His reply left Xavia speechless. If she could figure it out then she wouldn’t be asking! Seriously though, what had gone wrong? As far as she could remember, she had played all her cards right, and she had even taken the initiative to kiss him! Hell, she had also made sure not to burden him before he left! For god’s sake! And they said women were hard to understand! What a headache…!

Regardless, it was later that day when Xavia received a call from Anthony. He wanted her to at least make Stefan some stomach-nourishing porridge, and since Stefan had helped her quite a bit, Xavia saw no problem with that.

With that in mind, she soon arrived at his villa… but strangely enough, Lily wasn’t there to pester her. In fact, the entire villa was devoid of sound, and it almost seemed as though no woman had ever lived here… Though she was surprised, Xavia quickly shook the thought off and began preparing some porridge for Stefan.

It didn’t take long before she was done, and she had just written a note explaining the porridge… when all of a sudden, Stefan returned!

Upon seeing Xavia, he couldn’t help but frown as he said, “…Xavia?”

Hearing Stefan’s voice, Anthony quickly explained, “M-Mr. Talton! About this… I noticed you hadn’t been eating much recently, and that your stomach wasn’t in the greatest condition… Because of that, I troubled Miss Lockhart into coming over to make you some porridge…!”

After a brief pause, Stefan was prompted to reply, “…I see. You may leave first, Anthony.”

“Very well, Mr. Talton,” said Anthony.

Once Anthony was gone, the concerned Xavia was prompted to ask, “Have you had your stomach checked…? Come, have some porridge…”

“I appreciate it,” replied Stefan as he removed his suit, revealing a simple white shirt underneath.

After washing his hands, he sat at the dining table and had a spoonful of porridge… and shortly after, he was prompted to praise, “Delicious… Only your food can taste this scrumptious…”

“There’s no need for that. Xavia, please understand that I really don’t like her,” replied Stefan as he held her hands while staring straight into her eyes.

This, of course, left Xavia momentarily startled. True enough, marrying someone you didn’t like sounded hellish… But even so, she couldn’t stop herself from feeling bad for that woman. How was she ever going to make up for all this…?

Her train of thought was cut short when Stefan suddenly coughed into his hand… and when he moved his hand away, there was blood on his palm…!

Eyes widening, the panicked Xavia momentarily forgot to call Stefan by his title as she exclaimed, “S-Stefan?! What’s wrong?! Do you need me to call a doctor?!”

As she quickly helped him onto the sofa before getting him a glass of warm water, Stefan was prompted to reply, “…Xavia… My parents are doctors, you know…”
