Though his voice was soothing, his words were anything but, and Sophia was left momentarily too shocked to reply. She, for one, knew that her mother’s actions had enraged Zivon, and that the only way that she’d be able to continue getting along with him was to end this farce, but… Had he not been moved at all even after watching all that…? To think he’d make such a decision without any hesitation…! It felt like she had just been tossed into freezing arctic waters…

It took her a while, but she eventually managed to reply, “…Alright, but… Please know that I wasn’t expecting any of this to happen last night, and I never had any intention of telling you about my true feelings… Even though you now know, however, I won’t force you to do anything… If you want the relationship to end, so be it. In return, however, I hope that you’ll continue asking for my help when you need it, and…”

“…That you’ll continue being my friend. Worry not, my affection will play no part in our future collaborations,” concluded Sophia who was truly terrified of losing it all.

“…We can talk about this later. For now, focus on creating a public relations speech regarding the state of our relationship,” replied Zivon in a monotonous voice before leaving the room…

Upon hearing that, Sophia’s gaze fell… and shortly after, she flopped on the couch. Today was the closest she had ever got to him… Recalling tonight’s events, she remembered how one of the guests had invited her to dance earlier… She couldn’t really say no since he was a business partner…

Zivon, however, had stepped forward to invite her to dance instead, most probably because she had agreed that he’d be free to leave in half an hour… Despite knowing that, she felt privileged to be able to dance with him… To be able to feel the warmth of his hands… It had been such a wonderful moment, and she honestly couldn’t wish to be any happier at the time… Alas, all good things had to come to an end, and now, she had completely lost him…

Moving back to Zivon, he exited through the back door and quickly notified Nathan to drive the car over… and soon enough, he was inside his Maybach. Unfortunately, none of his attempts to call Xavia worked. They always went straight to voicemail…

Raising a brow, he ended up sending a text message to her, stating, ‘Where are you? I’m coming over immediately.’

Though Xavia saw the messages, her stomach was hurting far too much for her to respond. Besides, she didn’t really feel like responding after all that had happened…

“However, since she looked much better in the evening, I advised her to walk around with her boyfriend to freshen herself up… Alas, she ended up leaving alone, and the situation seems to have gotten much worse than before… With that said, I’m re-examining her!” concluded the doctor as Zivon’s eyes widened.

She had been sick throughout the day? Why hadn’t she contacted him? …Or had she tried to do that? Had he been too preoccupied with his work and Sophia’s affairs? Shaking the countless questions off, Zivon growled, “…Give her the best treatment you can offer…!”

“Got it!” replied the doctor as he hurried back into the operation room, not even wondering why Zivon was so concerned about the patient…

Either way, now that all the focus was on the operation room, the hospital’s corridor became deafeningly quiet…
