“Why didn’t you or Young Master Burton come back yesterday?” Sophia questioned angrily.

Xavia’s face turned pale. It felt like Sophia's angry gaze was piercing her soul.

It was true that one lie would eventually lead to a whole lot more.

Xavia said quickly, “I really don’t know. I’ll go clean up the house now.”

Xavia hurried upstairs, and Sophia’s expression darkened. In her opinion, Xavia’s actions and words showed signs of guilt, and the fact that neither of them came back was all the evidence she needed!

Sophia followed Xavia and snarled, “Do my laundry.” A few minutes later, the table was piled high with clothes and shoes.

Xavia frowned. “Many of these don't seem like they've been worn.”

Sophia narrowed her eyes and said, “It doesn't matter, just do as I say! Besides, even if they were not worn, they still have dust and germs on them. All these clothes are expensive, so you'd better wash them with your hands! You’ll be held responsible if you can’t finish washing them or if you damage them.”

Sophia left after saying that.

Xavia felt irritated and helpless, but compared to what she owed Sophia, doing her laundry meant nothing.

The clothes were not dirty, but there were hundreds of clothes and dozens of shoes. She washed all of them until evening, and her hands became sore and swollen.

Occasionally, she would have to wash clothes or shoes with beads on them that wounded her hands, making it even more difficult for her to do the washing.

“What are you two doing here?” A low voice rang out.

Sophia quickly collected her thoughts and turned to Zivon who was walking towards them. "Nothing much. She accidentally dirtied some of my clothes and shoes when she was cleaning up the house, so she decided to help me wash them. I told her she didn’t have to do it, and I was just asking her why she didn't use the washing machine or send them to the laundromat.”

Her tone was serious and she didn't stutter at all.

Xavia was speechless. What a superb actress!

Zivon’s gaze fell on Xavia’s wounded hands. When she noticed he was looking at them, she quickly submerged her hands into the bucket of water so that he could not see anything.

However, there were hundreds of clothes hanging in the laundry room that were not there yesterday, so Zivon could easily understand what was going on. He looked at Sophia and asked coldly, “Is that so?”
