To her surprise, her cell’s door soon creaked open… and in stepped two masked officers, one fat, and one skinny.

Before she could say a word, the fat man said, “Evening, Miss Lockhart. Don’t worry, Young Master Burton was the one who sent us over. He said you were afraid of being alone in your cell, and he’s even told us to get you some supper. After eating, you can just get some rest as we keep you company. Also, no outsiders saw us if you’re worried about Young Master Burton’s reputation getting affected.”

Upon hearing that, Xavia couldn’t help but feel touched. After all, under normal circumstances, those related to imprisoned people would surely be eager to sever ties with them. Zivon, however, was the complete opposite of that. Come to think of it, he was being extra considerate toward her now that she was here!

Shaking the thought off, Xavia finally realized that she hadn’t eaten anything throughout the day. If she was going to counter Jenna, then she needed to make sure that she remained healthy! With that in mind, she simply replied, “…Thank you.”

Following that, she began eating… and by the time she was done, she felt rather groggy. It didn’t take long for her to pass out… and a while later, one of the ‘guards’ said, “…Looks like she’s finally out.”

“Man, she’s so troublesome to deal with! It still pisses me off when I remember how much trouble she gave us last time… Oh well. Now that she’s passed out, we need to make sure to finish the job!”

Unbeknownst to them, Xavia had yet to fully fall asleep, and she overheard all that they had said. Just as she was wondering whether she had misheard all that, the officers took their masks off… revealing two hideous and familiar faces! These two… They were the same men who had abducted both her and Yulia before the wedding! What the hell were they doing here?!

Feeling incredibly weak, Xavia forced herself to mutter, “…You… two…! What do you want from me…?!”

Gently squishing her cheeks, the fat man smirked as he said, “Well, since you’ll be dead anyway, we may as well share this! We’re doing all this under Jenna’s orders! In fact, this isn’t the first time she hired us! We sadly failed to kill you that first time, and because of that, we didn’t even get paid!”

Naturally, this left Xavia utterly shocked. Was she that desperate to get rid of her…?!

“Indeed… But! If we manage to kill you this time, then we’ll be paid double of last time! With that said, give up on escaping already! Just so you know, Jenna’s made sure to go the extra mile by ensuring that no other officers would be here tonight!” declared the skinny man, causing Xavia’s heart to sink deeper into despair!

She should’ve known by now that Jenna’s viciousness knew no bounds…!
