Upon hearing that, everyone turned around… and it was then when they realized that Zivon had been present this entire time!

“Crap! He’s been looking at the two this entire time…?!”

“Shh! Let’s pretend we didn’t say all that…!”

Xavia herself was left startled when she heard that, and soon enough, she saw the icy man glaring daggers at her from beneath a crystal chandelier. What was he doing here?!

Zivon interpreted her shock as guilt, and he couldn’t help but clench his fists in frustration.

Noticing the high tension, Zayne quickly walked over to Zivon’s side and whispered, “Remember what I said earlier…! Don’t let her go…!”

Following that, he pulled Xavia over while smiling before adding, “So, um… Zivon came over to attend Doctor Rudner’s party the second he got off work! He wanted to personally express his gratitude to him for saving your life, you see, and he also wanted to pick the kids up. Where were you anyway?”

…Who did Zayne think he was fooling? Even so, she could tell that Zayne was only trying to help, so she revealed a subtle smile and replied, “…Well, Mark’s car broke down and since Doctor Rudner couldn’t just leave his own party, I went on his behalf to get Mark. I appreciate you joining us…”

Though Xavia was hesitant to do so, she eventually nodded and headed over to play with the kids for a bit, hoping that it’d cause the others to lose interest. Only she knew how embarrassed she was to be caught between all this right now! Thankfully, the mood returned to normal shortly after, and Xavia realized that it was the prime opportunity to excuse herself from the party.

To her surprise, Zivon simply asked, “Why the sudden urge to leave? Can’t have fun with me around? Come to think of it, you had been here way earlier than the others, right?”

…The hell was with this guy?! Feeling irked, Xavia retorted, “As if I could do anything funny with the kids here!”

The woman looked like an enraged kitten that was getting ready to pounce, and Zivon realized that he may have stepped a bit too far. However, the image of her having a good laugh with Mark instantly canceled any hesitation he felt. Just what was he supposed to feel, then?
