Her train of thought was cut short when Dolly said, “…I’ve heard that several women from the entertainment industry had been sexually assaulted while they were drugged and unconscious… Could it be that the thugs used that exact drug on you…?”

Feeling more and more uneasy by the second, Xavia quickly replied, “…I’ll go check with Mark.”

“He’s not here. He’s probably at his laboratory, but you should call him to make sure. That aside, Mark is pretty busy now… And… Actually, it’s nothing.”

Watching as Mrs. Talton turned to leave, Xavia couldn’t help but go speechless. What had she been so hesitant to say? Then again, Mrs. Talton didn’t really have any reason to worry about her, so… Was her gut feeling just a false alarm? In the end, she simply stared at the villa’s lights for a bit before deciding not to think about it for now. It was embarrassing to straightforwardly ask Mark about this anyway. Understanding that, Matthew eventually cleared his throat and replied, “…I hadn’t given that aspect of the drug much attention, and I hadn’t checked with Mark either. Still, since you’ve said all this, I believe that this must be the case. I mean, why else would the child exist? And you two were alone for quite a while before you came to me…”
