His kiss had the warmth of a gentle spring breeze, and even after the lift had arrived at the tenth floor, neither of them parted their lips… an eternity seemed to pass before Xavia’s phone rang out of the blue, finally snapping the two out of it.

Now blushing wildly, the embarrassed woman was quick to say, “I-I’ll answer the call first! H-hello…?”

“How much longer are you going to avoid Jenna, huh? She’s dead, for Christ’s sake!” growled the angry Kevin the second he heard Xavia’s voice.

Naturally, Xavia was surprised to hear his sudden order. Come to think of it, she had been way too joyful on the day of her rescue to even remember Jenna’s death. It didn’t help that she had gotten so distracted because of Zivon. Regardless…

“…Why should I force myself to meet her so soon?”

“Are you for real? Are you really unwilling to respect the deceased?! Then again, I guess it checks out! After all, you didn’t even want to save me back then! Guess nothing’s changed! Anyway, this isn’t about me. Come over, you hear?”

Following that gruff order, he hung up, leaving Xavia speechless. Was he really that blinded by Jenna’s ‘kindness’? And what the hell did he mean by her not saving him?

Her train of thought was cut short when Zivon icily muttered, “You don’t have to go. That aside, I have the right mind to teach him a lesson with how rude he always is to you.”

While he wasn’t mad at Kevin for attacking him earlier, he wasn’t about to tolerate her brother’s impoliteness toward her!

Sighing slightly, Xavia replied, “…Well, I may as well just go to finally end all this, though… I’m still wearing pajamas, so could you give me a ride home?”

Knowing that he wouldn’t be able to stop the determined-looking woman, he soon said, “…Fine, though you have to listen to me once we’re there, alright?”

As the people returned to cursing at Jenna, Xavia simply walked silently by Zivon’s side. Soon enough, the two saw Mr. and Mrs. Lockhart standing in the mourning hall, looking incredibly haggard. How else were they supposed to look when their daughter had just died?

When Kevin saw Xavia, he immediately walked toward her before growling, “Bet you’re overjoyed that she’s dead and hated now, huh?”

“Watch your tone, Kevin. Xav’s the victim here, and Jenna’s only reaping what she sowed,” retorted Zivon as he glared at Kevin.

“Hah! If she hadn’t ruined Jenna’s marriage, then she would’ve never gone rogue, so shut it! Also, unlike that coward standing next to you, Jenna will forever be more humane in my eyes for saving my life!”

Xavia had been patient this entire time, so when she heard Kevin being so rude and unrelenting, she couldn’t help but feel incredibly irked. In the end, she was prompted to growl, “Kevin, enough of this. Do explain when exactly I refused to save you.”
