When dinner finally ended, Zivon told Wendy to take care of the kids before leading Whitney to the garden… Since Xavia was there, the frightened woman quickly hid deeper among the shrubbery… and thankfully, she was able to evade getting found. Even so, doing that only made her heart hurt even more.

After all, Zivon and Whitney only stopped once they were in a secluded area… Why had he brought her to such a spot at such a late hour…? With her mind preoccupied on the two, she was unable to watch her step, and she ended up falling into an icy-cold pool! Since it was the winter, she was chilled pretty much to the bone, and moments after she managed to crawl out, she heard a gentle and anxious voice ask, “…Xavia?”

Looking up at the man who had outstretched his hand toward her, Xavia couldn’t help but widen her eyes. It was Keith.

After pulling him up, Keith was quick to remove his coat and wrap it around her. Following that, he quickly said, “Wait here. I’ll get Young Master Burton to come over so that he can help change you into something warmer.”

“I-It’s fine. I don’t want him or the kids to know I’m here… S-so I’m heading home… Thank you…” replied the chattering woman who didn’t want to get humiliated even further.

Narrowing his eyes, he pulled her back before saying, “You’re drenched in winter, Xavia. I’d rather you change at my place rather than freeze to death on your way home.”

Though she wanted to refuse, Keith wasn’t about to take no for an answer. With that, he pulled her into his car and turned the heater on before driving off. Though his apartment was usually a ten-minute drive, he made it there in six, and once they were inside, he was quick to toss her some clothes.

“Those belonged to Jenna, so they should fit you well. I’ve also turned on the heater, so hurry and get toasty in the bath.”

Since she was practically freezing by this point, Xavia was forced to nod and enter the bathroom… Though the hot water was soon able to warm her body, even that couldn’t defrost her sorrowful heart. After all, to think that she’d fall into such a miserable state right after seeing her fiancé with another woman…

“…His father wants Whitney to marry him. Naturally, he just wants her property, but he also thinks that compared to me, she’s more worthy of his love…”

“…What are you even talking about? He won’t ever marry her, and unlike his father, he doesn’t give a hoot about property. You know what? If you’re that bothered by it, then let me handle things for you.”
