Signing this contract will also cut any ties that Maison and Yulia have with the Burtons, meaning they won’t get a cent from your inheritance. Regardless, once it’s signed, I’ll take Xavia away and you won’t ever have to see her again. It’s a win, win,” scoffed Ian as he handed the old man a few documents.

Before Hershel could even take them, however, Xavia was quick to grab onto Ian’s arm while saying, “Hold on, you don’t get a say in this!”

“Are you serious? They’re clearly treating you like garbage! What’s more, had I not arrived in time, they would have knocked you out before forcing you onto a plane that was always going to crash! Are you still going to play along now that you know all this?! Besides, it’s not like Zivon actually loves you! Would a true lover mess around with other women behind your back?!”

…W-what?! They had been planning to send her to her doom?! As Xavia went pale, the panicking Hershel, who hadn’t expected Ian to know all that, was quick to stutter, “S-Sir Ian…! T-that…! Um, I-I can explain-”

“It doesn’t matter…! Just sign the papers and leave Xavia alone, already! Don’t you want him to marry that wealthy goddaughter of yours…?!” growled Ian as he glared at Hershel like he was a dead man.

…From Ian’s tone alone, it was clear that he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. Watching as two guards came forward to hand him a fountain pen, Hershel found his expression darkening. Never had he been put in such a situation, and it didn’t help that he had never had any conflicts with the Frankstons. That bitch has clearly hooked up with Ian! Why else would he be this protective of her?! That filthy woman didn’t deserve to be with Zivon…!

That aside, Whitney’s wealth was so great that she could easily run a small country. With that in mind, once things were put into motion, the Burtons would surely be able to thrive. By that point, they wouldn’t need to serve the President anymore…! With all that in mind, Hershel gritted his teeth before signing the contract…

The second Hershel was done, Ian quickly grabbed the document, almost as though he was worried that Hershel would suddenly change his mind. After clearing his throat, Ian then said, “Good. Now make sure to keep an eye on your beloved Young Master Burton so that you don’t start blaming Xavia again if he ever comes back for her.”

With that said, he gestured toward his men, prompting Ian, his guards, and Xavia to leave…

Once he was sure that nothing vital was injured, he sighed before flopping onto his bed. After being beaten up for so long, he was now able to feel less guilty. By this point, he had also figured that what had happened had happened, and there was no point in regretting the past.

Still, if Xavia were to proceed with the wedding, he was going to make sure that he’d take her on a half-year-long honeymoon. After all, that would ensure that Whitney had passed on once they returned. If she decided to truly leave, however… Not wanting to even think about that scenario, the exhausted man quickly drifted off to sleep.

It was sometime later when his nose picked up a familiar fragrance… A fragrance that didn’t belong to Xavia! Instantly opening his eyes, he was just in time to grab the hand that had just been placed on his sheets… and as it turned out, it was Whitney!

Glowering at her, the infuriated man growled, “Who let you in…?!”
