As it turned out, he wanted Mark to stay the night and take care of Xavia!

“…Wouldn’t it be inappropriate for me to stay with all of you here…?” asked Mark, knowing full well that Xavia was Zivon’s fiancée. Sure, he wanted to win her heart, but this wasn’t the way to do it!

To his dismay, Ian simply replied, “Nothing inappropriate at all, and even if something happened, it’s not like anyone would ever expose news of what happens within the palace. Either way, I’m just worried that Xavia will wander off if she wakes up while still drunk, and my parents are too old to be taking care of her this late at night. I have a meeting early tomorrow morning as well, so I have to rest. With that said, having you take care of her is the best option.”

Even though what Ian said made sense, it was clear that those were only excuses, and Mark found himself slightly helpless. Though he knew that Ian was just trying to give him a chance to be with Xavia, he simultaneously knew that this was akin to taking advantage of the situation.

With that, Mark ultimately replied, “…Are you really sure you’re doing this for Xavia’s sake…?”

Raising a slight brow, Ian said, “…Are you implying that my actions are detrimental to her? That aside, I assure you that I’m not deliberately trying to break her and Zivon apart. I just want the Burtons to realize that they’re not all-powerful. Also, I’m doing this to see if Xavia still has any feelings for you. That way, she won’t have any regrets in the future. This goes without saying, but I’m doing this for Xavia’s sake, not yours. So… if you don’t want this chance-”

“I’ll do it. Thank you for trusting me… I’ll be sure to take good care of her,” interrupted Mark with a subtle sigh of relief. If this was Ian’s reasoning, then he didn’t have to worry too much about doing this…

Though she was extremely drunk, Xavia was still aware enough to know that she was being carried to her room… she also knew that someone had wiped her face clean, and even fed her some soup… Those, however, were the last things she remembered before finally drifting off to sleep…

Alas, while she was asleep, her phone kept vibrating… and if she were awake, then she’d surely have realized that Zivon had called her countless times…

“A-are you insane…?! The snow has piled up, and if we fall into any crevices, we’re done for…! I say we wait for help here…!”

“While I’d agree under normal circumstances, we have little to keep us alive here. What’s more, since nobody knows who we are here, nobody will bother braving the snow to save us. With that said, it’s either we try leaving, or freeze to death here.”

“…Fucking hell…! Just what did I do to deserve this…?! If I had known that this was the karma that I’d get for hurting Xavia, I would’ve never laid a finger on her…!” wailed the desperate Dylan.

In the past few days, they had braved extreme chills as they mined on and on. Needless to say, they were all near their breaking points, and though they finally managed to get sufficient diamonds, they were now at risk of dying from this snowstorm! Only God knew whether he’d make it out alive…!
