With that in mind, she was just about to decline when Mark added, “What? Unwilling to have a meal with me just because you have a boyfriend now…?”

“O-of course, not! It’s just… Oh, fine, I’ll treat you to dinner since you’ve been working so hard… Consider it my way of thanking you for making these wonderful dresses…” replied Xavia, prompting Mark to smile rather wryly.

After all, the fact that she needed a reason to convince herself to eat with him was a clear sign that she was still actively trying to avoid his advances… Slightly defeated, he then led her to a nearby food stall and ordered two muffalettas.

“Remember these? You used to love them back when we were kids.”

Upon hearing that, Xavia was reminded of a food stall that they used to love back in the day. The market stall would always serve mini muffalettas during lunch, and they’d be filled with cheese, ham, roasted red peppers, and many more. That was equivalent to a grand feast for them at the time, and best of all, they were relatively cheap.

Sighing with a smile, Xavia replied, “Indeed… They’re not as tasty as I remember, though… Guess I got a bit picky with my food.”

“Well, our lives used to be simple, and village hawkers usually cook things with authentic ingredients. I’m guessing these are made with artificial flavoring, so… I wouldn’t say that. Though, I’m willing to make some for you when I have the time. I’m sure you’ll find them as delectable as before when that happens.”

Xavia simply nodded in response as she continued eating her nostalgic meal.

‘She keeps posting about him on Facebook, and had I not followed there, I would’ve never known about how bitchy she still is!’

‘That aside, why are you allowing her to act all buddy-buddy with him? Are you really that generous? The more I think about those posts, the more frustrated I feel!’

Understandably confused by all this, Xavia replied, ‘…What exactly happened…?’

‘…Wait, what? You mean he’s been flirting with that bitch behind your back? Hold on, I’ll send you some screenshots!’
