Inching closer to Nathan, she couldn’t help but ask, “…Is it really appropriate to have a patient do work in bed…?”

Following a sigh, Nathan helplessly replied, “…Well… He’s been spending a lot of his time trying to finally put an end to Whitney’s reign of terror, so… He really can’t afford to continue delaying his work by this point… Regardless, you should get some rest if you’re tired, Mrs. Burton… Don’t worry, I’ll watch over him…”

Nodding in response, Xavia then laid down despite knowing that it was going to be hard for her to get any rest. After all, now that things were calmer, she finally had time to process everything that had happened in the past few days…

It was around eleven that night when Zivon finally managed to get to the final message on his phone… It was from Ian.

According to Cade, the amnesia-inducing drug only lasts for about a week, and she’ll slowly start to remember her past once she stops taking them. Oh, and one final thing. Sneering in response, Zivon replied, ‘She deserved that fate after making Xav suffer so much. Hell, had she not clarified that the kid was mine, then I wouldn’t have let her die then! Honestly, I still think she deserves a worse death.’

…For such a great man, Zivon was completely fine with being barbaric when it came to those who hurt his wife, huh…? Then again, it did show just how much he loved her…

Taking a deep breath, Lana replied, “…About that… Now that Miss Xavia has recovered and everything has settled down… I would like to resign. With that said, you’ll have to look for somebody else to protect her…”

This prompted the confused Ian to raise a brow as he asked, “…After so many years of working for us? Why?”

Because she no longer wanted to fall for him, of course. Just like Cade, she knew that she would never truly be worthy of being with him… So what was the point in staying? It was high time she moved on…

Shaking her head, Lana explained, “…I was planning on resigning much earlier, but you told me to stay by Miss Xavia’s side after you found out that she was poisoned… Since things were dire at the time, I simply couldn’t bring it up again… That is, until now since everything has returned back to normal… As for why… I just want to change my lifestyle a bit… With all that said, thank you for taking care of me all these years…”

Following that, she made a ninety-degree bow before turning to leave…
