"You trying to work me to death?"

"You said you wanted to find your purpose. How about we target underserved markets, offer surgeries for free? Don't worry about financials, I'll cover all the operation costs."

I put my hand over his mouth to stop him from saying more.

"Max... I need some time to think it over."

He kissed the back of my hand then gently pulled it away, saying, "I know, ever since the flood, you've seen firsthand the suffering in the world. But one person's efforts are limited. You could hire a team, provide them with salaries, and offer the treatments for free."

I shook my head, "The cost would be enormous. It's practically charity work."

"That's exactly what I want to do. To accrue good karma for our child, hoping for a safe, happy, and healthy life." Max placed his hand on my stomach.

I couldn't help but wrap my arms around his neck, "Max, why are you so nice? You sure you're not up to something? Richard was always nice to me since we were kids, but in the end, he hurt me the most. I'm really scared."
