The students' voices grew louder as they shot contemptuous looks at Yolanda. After arriving at her seat, she browsed the news on her phone. They would be the ones embarrassed when the results came out later anyway.

Ten minutes later, Clara entered the classroom with a troubled look. Though he could make sure Yolanda would get expelled eventually, the fact that she had gotten the first place and scored full marks for all subjects was a huge blow to her as the homeroom teacher and the other students.

"Ms. Bennett, are the results out? Quick, tell us who's first! That piece of trash must have gotten last place, right?" After a student in the front called out, it triggered laughter throughout the class.

"Ms. Bennett, skip the useless stuff! Just tell us the scores!"

"Yeah, tell us the loser's score first!"

Clara wiped the sweat from her forehead. She knew she had to announce Yolanda's score first either way. The more smug they were now, the more embarrassed they would be. But she could not say that outright.

She could only force a smile and said, "Everyone, stay calm. The results might surprise you, so brace yourselves."

"Surprise? What surprise?" The students were puzzled. A surprising result? Surely Yolanda could not have gotten first place again, right? To them, that seemed impossible.

"Just… try not to be too shocked." Clara cleared her throat again and glanced at Yolanda to hide her awkwardness. "First place in our grade goes to Yolanda Henderson, who scored perfect marks across all four subjects."

After the announcement, dead silence fell over the classroom. Five minutes passed before the shocked students could react. "Ms. Bennett, there must be some mistake!"

"How could she possibly get first place again?"

"That wasn't because of bad grades…"

Class A was advanced placement, so only excellent students could get in and no rich kids could buy their way through. But in other classes, bullying by wealthy classmates was common.

Perhaps these students had not noticed, but First Academy was no longer the meritocracy it once was. Any family with enough influence and money to bribe the board could get their kids in. The ones who did not make it were simply not from families that were powerful enough.
