Chapter 126 What Did I Do Wrong?

Eric quickly finished the bowl of noodle soup, even drinking most of the soup.

Kate watched him eat everything with satisfaction and couldn’t help but get closer to him. She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, grabbed his hand, and frowned a bit. “Ric, you’re too skinny now. I need to find a way to get you to gain some weight,” she said softly, her eyes full of sincerity.

Eric’s anorexia had made him a bit thin, but not unhealthily so–just lean. Despite his slim appearance, he had a lot of hidden strength.

Eric looked at her with his dark eyes and asked in a husky voice, “So, how are you planning to fatten me up?”

His deep, raspy voice had a hint of playfulness, making Kate’s ears instantly turn red.

Is this guy even playing fair?

They were really close, and whenever Kate looked up, she’d lock eyes with Eric’s intense gaze.

She swallowed and was just about to say something when Eric’s phone rang.

He frowned as he answered it, his expression growing serious.

“Got it,” he said before hanging up.

Then, he looked at Kate with a hint of apology, he added, “Kate, something urgent came up at work. I can’t stay with. you tonight.”

Kate let out a small “oh” and reminded him, “Make sure you get enough rest and don’t overwork yourself.”

Eric nodded and stood up to leave but paused. After a moment, he said, “Kate, work’s been really hectic. lately, and I need to focus on it for a while.”

Seeing her worried and slightly stunned look, he added, “But don’t worry, I’ll make sure to eat well and get enough rest.”

He would definitely follow his dear wife’s orders.

“Okay.”

Kate stepped forward and hugged him, whispering, Take care of yourself, Ric.”

Eric kissed her forehead and replied in a husky voice. I will.”

Then he hurried off, and soon his car disappeared into the night.
