Chapter 287: Fantasy novel Reclaiming My Broken Luna (Astrid and Killian)

Nova’s POV

I froze when I saw Drystan rushing out of the packhouse, his surprise shifting from surprise to something I couldn’t quite place.

I swallowed hard, staying rooted on the spot, fighting the urge to turn around and run away again as he ran towards me, closing the distance between us.

“Drystan, what are you doing here?” My voice faltered, the words I had planned to say slipping through my fingers like water.

I thought he would still be at the Silvermoon Pack, wrapped in Astrid’s arms, far from here. I thought I completely lost him to her.

Instead, he is right in front of me, moving closer with every second, like he was afraid I might disappear again.

Before I could take a step back, before I could even think, Drystan closed the distance between us and pulled me into his arms, holding me so tightly that I almost couldn’t breathe.

His embrace caught me off guard. This wasn’t the cold, distant Drystan I had expected.

It wasn’t the reaction I’d imagined during all those long, lonely nights when I prepared myself for another rejection.

He clung to me like I was something precious he’d nearly lost, and I couldn’t understand it.

My mind raced, trying to make sense of what was happening, but then his voice broke through my thoughts, low and rough, each word heavy with emotion.

“I’m so sorry, Nova,” he murmured into my hair. “I’m sorry for everything I did to you. For hurting you, for pushing you away. I never meant to make you feel like you didn’t matter.”

I blinked, my breath catching in my throat as his words sank in. This couldn’t be real.

I had come back to confess everything — to pour out the feelings I’d carried for so long, to let him know how deeply he had hurt me, and then walk away, expecting nothing but the same cold indifference I’d always known from him.

I’ve already accepted that there’s no chance between both of us, but here he was, apologizing, holding me like he never wanted to let go.

My mind struggled to process his words, to make sense of the warmth in his voice, the regret I heard in every syllable.

This wasn’t what I’d expected, not at all. I had braced myself for more pain, for the ache of knowing he could never love me back the way I had always wanted.

As I stood there, wrapped in Drystan’s arms, the world seemed to spin beneath me.

Everything I thought I knew, every scenario I had prepared for, disintegrated in the face of his unexpected embrace.

I had returned expecting cold indifference — more rejection. But instead, I was faced with something entirely different.
