Elijah's mother's picture was on the grave. In it, she had a bright, graceful face. Her dark eyes shone like stars in the night. A gentle smile played on her lips, and her eyes curved as if they were speaking to her.

"Come meet your future mother-in-law." Elijah teased with a grin.

Liesel's eyes widened in shock. "Are you crazy!"

Liesel wanted to turn and leave, but she glared at him, placed the flowers he brought on the grave, and bowed quickly before hurrying off.

Watching her flee, Elijah's smile didn't waver. He knelt on the cold ground, and the overcast sky seemed to brighten slightly at that moment.

"Ms. Zucker, I brought a young lady you might like and I'm pursuing her. You always told me to live freely and boldly when I was young, and she's exactly like that. Even though people try to control her, she still lives her own way. I think you'd appreciate her.

"Ms. Zucker, if you're watching me, maybe you could tell Ms. Mallone that I really like her daughter. I hope to look after her. I hope that Ms. Mallone might give me the chance to cherish her daughter." He said those words half-jokingly.

A strong wind suddenly picked up, scattering the pastries he had placed in front of the grave. "Hey, Ms. Mallone, don't be upset. I really am just pursuing her; I wouldn't do anything inappropriate."

Elijah's eyes crinkled with warmth as he chuckled. "If she's with me, she can be free to act as she pleases, laugh when she wants, and have fun. Isn't that wonderful?"

Did he truly love Liesel? No, he didn't exactly love her. He just felt that she would be a good match for him.

The feeling was more like a kinship. He had recognized someone of the same nature.

Elijah's smile was impossible to hide. "Why are you still here? Are you waiting for me?"

Liesel shot him a glare, shattering her earlier serene look with her lively expression, which made her appear more adorable.

"I'll take it as though you were waiting for me."

Liesel cast him a quick glance and started walking away, but Elijah grabbed her wrist. "Hey, I didn't see you drive here, so let me take you home.

Elijah pointed at the sky and spoke with convincing air. "Ms. Zucker and Ms. Mallone are both here, watching us. I have to be a gentleman, or they'll come after me."
