Chapter 51
Chapter 51
Xander POV
כן!
This is bad. Really bad. Who would have guessed that Isabelle Kamona would do something so maddening or so crazy as to attempt to take her own life, by attempting suicide in front of the whole pack like that? I hand over the bloodied knife to a pack member, instructing them to take it to the hospital, and turp around, holding onto Regan who is sobbing loudly into my shoulder. She should never have had to see something like that,
“Xander, do you think she’ll be okay?” Regan sobs; sounding brokenhearted.
Even with everything that Isabelle has put her through, Regan’s compassion continues to shine through. I stroke the top of her hair, feeling its soft silken strands, my throat tightening. As much as I want to give her the answer I know she’s hoping to hear, I know that I can’t afford to give her false hope. Isabelle had used a silver dagger..
“I don’t know.”
It’s the only answer I can truthfully give. Isabelle used a silver dagger which did tremendous damage to her. She would have had her wolf and received it at midnight if today was her birthday, but silver was like poison to shifters She must have been feeling desperate to go to such lengths.
Desperate or manipulative, I thought with a certain degree of skepticism, as Regan wiped the tears from her eyes and looked up at me with sadness.
“We should go and check on her” Regan insisted, her voice breaking.
1 hesitated. I didn’t want Regan anywhere near Isabelle. I didn’t trust that this wasn’t another trick or way to gain sympathy from the pack or even the elders when they found out what had happened. But Regan was also Isabelle’s stepsister and as such I could not deny her visiting while Isabelle was in such a critical condition. What if Isabelle died and Regan didn’t get the chance to say goodbye? My guilt would not let me refuse her this opportunity.
“If that’s what you really want,” I said slowly, looking at her tear–streaked face and feeling a pang in my chest, “then I can take you, but you’re not to be alone with her I added sternly.
Even wounded, if Isabelle was conscious she might still attempt to hurt Regan. It was unlikely but I wasn’t about to take any chances when it came to my mate. Regan would have to understand that and thankfully it looked as though she did, not arguing about that condition at all to my surprise.
She nodded and we began to head over to the car. As we head inside the hospital, we see Xavier standing in the waiting room, covered in Isabelle’s blood, a look of pity on his face Isabelle must be in surgery, I surmised as Regan rushed over to him, a look of panic on her face.
“How is she? Is she alive?” Regan cries, her voice shaking.
Xavier runs a hand through his hair and shoots us both a look, his tone slightly cautious. Like me, he doesn’t want to get Regan’s hopes up, only to have them dashed. “They’re doing the best they can. She lost a lot of blood She needs transfusions” he began, and Regan immediately began to flag down a doctor, waving her hand frantically at them to gain their attention.
“Regan, what are you doing?” I asked, feeling slightly exasperated, even though I suspected I knew the answer, as she fixed her doe–like eyes on me and blinked.
“Donating,” she said simply.
I should have known that Regan would do this. The girl had a heart of gold.
I wanted to growl at Regan and knock some sense into her head but it was impossible to be angry at her. This was the same girl that had abused and terrified Regan and now Regan was offering to save her life! Isabelle didn’t know how lucky she was!

Chapter 51
The nurse heard Regan and began to usher her to a chair, and flinched as the needle was put in and her blood was taken. This ask Xavier or me to donate for which I was grateful. I didn’t kno want Isabelle Ramona having any of my blood.
other nurse quickly gathered the equipment. Regan barely ine, they only took two bags before stopping. She did not whether I would have been able to refuse her but I didn’t
Regan had just been unhooked from the needle and a bandage placed over the wound when Ileather Ramona came storming into the hospital, her eyes wild, her expression one ofory when she spotted her stepdaughter in the room. Before either of us could move, Heather stormed up to us and slapped egan right in the face. I grabbed her hand, while Regan put a hand to her check, looking stunned.
“Touch my mate again and I’ll break your hand” I snarled as she tried to wrestle it out of my grasp.
I tightened my grip, emphasizing my point, tempted to break her hand to make my point.
“Bastards” Heather shouted as Regan stood up and quietly put her hand on me, motioning for me to let go of her stepmother’s hand. I did, reluctantly. “The lot of you. This is all your fault” she sneered at Regan, pointing a finger at her chest while we growled, Xavier and I moved closer to our mate while Regan just looked at her, “If you hadn’t had us banished from the packhouse and turned into the laughingstock of the pack, Isabelle would never have taken such drastic measures” she shrieked.
It was just like Heather Ramona to blame everybody but herself for what Isabelle had done. Even Isabelle did not get the blame. I shook my
head in disbelief at this oblivious woman.
“Do not blame us for your daughter’s actions” Xavier snarled, looking as though he’d like to strike the woman, Regan looking quickly at him, which instantly made him calm down.
Heather looked ropeable. Regan spoke before things got too heated. “Stepmother” she began.
“Don’t call me that” Heather snapped “I am not your stepmother I have nothing to do with you. As far as I’m concerned you are nobody” she said icily, drawing her brows together in rage.
I put a hand on Regan’s shoulder, but she never so much as blinked. She took a deep breath. “Isabelle is still in surgery. The doctors are hopeful that she will pull through. You should sit in chair and wait” she motioned to the various chairs while Heather glowered at her.
“Acting so high and mighty, as if you’re the Luna” Heather’s lip curled, “just you wait Regan, you’ll be pulled off that throne you’re so happy to be sitting on and when you are, I’ll be the one that’s laughing” she spat.
