Chapter 56
Xavier POV
We enter the study the next morning, Regan, me, Xander, my father, Isabelle, and Heather Ramona, along with all of the elders. Thank goodness the study is so large and capable of housing all of us, with chairs placed along the back for everybody to sit, although most of the elders remain standing, along with that annoying and insufferable man, the Alpha and Elder Dominick..
“Good morning” he greets us blandly as we sit down and regard him.
other side. Isabelle is in a wheelchair once more and Heather stands Regan sits between me and Xander, our father on my behind her, holding onto the handles, causing both to look quite pitiful. None of us answer the elder, staring at him with
in Isabelle’s case, glee in our eyes.
anger
“I see” Elder Dominick murmurs, not fazed in the slightest as he calmly sits down and regards us all.
It’s obvious that he’s the one who’s in charge by the way the other elders listen and bow down to him. He exhales and then begins, not mincing words. “Let’s first discuss the charges against Alpha Jackson shall we” he says turning to our father who nods Lightly. “It’s been suggested that you murdered your wife and unfairly dismissed Beta Johnathon from the pack, forcing him to become a rogue,” he said. “can you explain that?
My father looks Elder Dominick right in the eyes and straightens his shoulders back. “Beta Johnathon was found to have been abusing Regan” he indicates to our mate who solemnly nods in agreement, “for years. We have the hospital records if you desire to look them over as visible proof” he gestures to a folder that is sitting on the desk, which I have to hazard the elders have already looked through as none of them make a move. “I felt that as the Alpha of the pack, it was my duty to ensure the safety of my pack member and prevent her from further abuse. It was also discovered that Beta Johnathon and my wife, Luna Jennifer previously had an affair, which consequently led to Luna Jennifer lying about Regan’s whereabouts and intentionally leading to Regan’s mother’s death during a rogue attack several years ago.”
Shocked gasps come from the elders behind Elder Dominick. Evidently, that information had not been divulged to the elders or they were sturned at hearing it come from the Alpha himself. Elder Dominick looked just as shocked as he motioned for my father to continue.
“As a result of that and of committing adultery, I could not allow Beta Johnathon to remain in the pack. I banished him and made him a rogue, along with my wife as punishment for their transgressions” my father admitted in a low tone, staring at the Elder stonily,
“How was your wife killed then?” another elder interrupted, looking at the others who were also nodding, looking just as perplexed. “I am struggling to see how it could be murder as you would have been justified in killing her for the adultery alone.”
Had they been given a different account of what happened? I thought they would have interviewed pack members for the answers but maybe they wanted to hear the truth from my father’s own lips to ensure they weren’t being lied to.
“I did not kill my wife for the adultery. She was also to become rogue but when she was brought out from the dungeon to be banished, she attempted to kill one of my sons and Regan got in her way. Regan almost died as a result. I killed her, for daring to try and touch a hair on one of our sons. I do not believe that would constitute is murder” my father said with a touch of fury in his voice,
My father was growing angry now at all the pointless questions and this farce of a trial that was unnecessary. I did not blame him. Me and Xander were just as angry. There was no need for them to have come here. Somebody had summoned them, I had no doubt and I was certain that somebody was Isabelle or Heather.
“Do you testify that he is telling the truth?” Elder Dominick looks at Regan for confirmation and my chest tightens as my mate is quick to reply.
“Yes. Alpha Jackson killed his wife to save his son’s life that day. The fact she was willing to murder her own child, is

something that I cannot condone, or fathom, and I wholeheartedly support him in what must have been an extremely difficult decision for him to have to make,”
Her voice is slightly shaking at the end.
My father looked at Regan gratefully, as did Xander and me. She looked at us, her eyes shining with unshed tears. I knew she felt guilty for our mother’s death, but our mother had chosen her fate when she did what she did. We could not blame. Regan for it. We did not blame Regan for it. I wish she could understand that, and move on from blaming herself.
Elder Dominick shot a look at the rest of the elders who were metering under their breath. They all looked convinced by my father’s testimony, none of them looked as though they were questioning what he had said.
“Your story seems to be an honest account of what’s happened. We have already interviewed several pack members and all of them have given the same account that you just did. We had to discern if they were simply being loyal or if they were speaking the truth, with the account you just gave, everything matches exactly what they told us. We have also used the Alpha tone on them” he admitted “but it was unnecessary, I happen to have the opinion” he glanced over his shoulder and the other elders fixed their eyes on him, their gazes intent “that what you did, was justifiable. Your punishment was more than fair for the, adultery that was committed against you. You left the option for your wife to remain alive. Her own actions led to her death, you protected your children, as is your right as both a father and as an Alpha who needs heirs for taking over his pack.”
