Felicia thought that upon hearing this, the guy would refuse to admit or retort with a cold laugh, saying something like "I won't tell you."

But much to her surprise, the leader froze for a moment, and his expression slowly became somewhat complicated.

Just as she was wondering, the leader spoke again. However, he did not speak in a provocative manner but in a slightly helpless tone, "I'm not a kidnapper. I'm here to rescue people."

Rescue people?

Felicia looked him up and down. The man in front of her was tall and slender. He was dressed in black, wearing a tactical uniform that accentuated his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs.

She hadn't noticed his appearance during the fight, but now, under her flashlight, Felicia realized that he was extremely handsome. He had sharp features, defined eyebrows, and a righteous temperament.

She didn't move the gun an inch, raising an eyebrow as she asked, "If you're here to rescue people, then why were you chasing after me?"

The man seemed to smile, the corners of his lips curving slightly, but the smile quickly faded. Even so, the brief smile was enough to make hearts race.

Meeting Felicia's gaze, the man replied, "I thought you were the kidnapper."

She recalled the situation back then and was rendered speechless.

She had just rescued Jennifer and the other women. Then, from Jennifer, she learned that the kidnappers were coming today to move them to another location.

At such a critical juncture and hearing so many footsteps outside, anyone would have thought it was the kidnappers arriving.

The man watched Felicia's changing expressions, a hint of amusement in his eyes. He voluntarily lowered his defensive stance and asked, "Since it's a misunderstanding, can you lower the gun now?"

"Don't worry, all of them are safe." The background noise on Scarlet's end was quite loud. "I've settled them down. I'm coming to get you now!"
