Chapter 665 novel Return of the Crowned Heiress

What was Johanna doing here?

The moment Imogen recognized Johanna, her expression darkened. Disgust surged within her reflexively, and her instincts screamed that Johanna's presence could only mean trouble.

She didn't even need to give an order. The guards nearby had already started running in Johanna's direction.

This was the Russell family's private airstrip that was located behind the residence. It was surrounded by electrified fences, monitored by cameras, and patrolled by guards 24/7. With such tight security, no outsider could possibly get in.

Even if Johanna had lived here for a while and was familiar with the layout and potential weaknesses, she was still stuck outside the perimeter fence. She had resorted to using a mirror to reflect sunlight to draw their attention.

But what was her goal?

When the Russell family's guards approached, Johanna smiled faintly, dropped the mirror, and moved her lips as if she were saying something. Then, before the guards could climb over the fence, she turned and disappeared into the woods behind her.

Moments later, the roar of a motorcycle engine echoed through the air. By the time the guards gave chase, Johanna was already on the back of someone's motorcycle, speeding away.

"Ms. Russell, we couldn't catch her, but we did retrieve this mirror," one of the guards reported.

As the guard handed the mirror over, Imogen initially didn't want to look at it, but her gaze was drawn to it anyway. The moment she saw it, her expression shifted dramatically.

On the mirror was a name written in blood—Caleb.

It was her child.

The blood-red writing was harsh and deliberate, drawn with such force that it seemed to carry a deep-seated hatred. The malice was almost tangible, radiating a blatant and menacing threat.

The familiar presence seemed to calm Caleb for a brief moment. His cries faltered momentarily, but then the sobs returned with even greater intensity after a while.

The one-month-old infant cried so hard that his entire face turned red, and his throat was so hoarse that his cries were barely audible. Tears streamed down his face.

"What's going on? He was fine before, wasn't he?" Imogen's voice cracked as she scanned the room, her gaze falling on the nannies and housekeepers. Her tone was sharp as she demanded, "What happened?"

One of the housekeepers stammered, "M-Ms. Russell, we didn't do anything! Everything was just as usual. Mr. Caleb was taking his afternoon nap, but all of a sudden, he started kicking his legs and crying non-stop. Maybe we should call a doctor?"

Naturally, the Russell family had an on-call family doctor who could arrive at a moment's notice.

Though Imogen was panicking and angry, she still managed to maintain a sliver of rationality. Or perhaps, it was more than she didn't dare to fully lose control. She immediately carried Caleb over to Felicia.
