Maurice was living in a delusion, and Felicia's bluntness was enough to break any lingering sentiment.

His smile froze. His gaze sharpened, locking onto Felicia's face. For a moment, his expression was laced with frustration. But in the end, all that remained was resignation. "Did you have to put it that bluntly?"

Felicia shrugged. "I was just speaking the truth."

He was speechless. He lowered his eyes, concealing the turmoil in them. The momentary daze made his tall figure seem lonely and desolate.

Since Maurice's men had booked the entire floor, she and Scarlet weren't planning to leave either. Felicia chose an empty suite, and Scarlet returned with a bag of food not long after.

"Boss, I've loaded everything you asked for into the car. And here's your late-night snack. Want to try it?" She set the takeout boxes on the small dining table.

Felicia glanced at the spread and found that everything was to her liking. She teased, "You've memorized my taste pretty well. I might not be able to function without you around."

Scarlet quirked a brow and grinned. "Well, since you're rich, why don't you just keep hiring me? I'll even cut you a deal."

Felicia washed her hands and took a seat before eating the steak. "I guess that's better than having you cut me."
