Maurice's mouth visibly twitched.

The way his subordinate phrased it would make an outsider think that there was something between him and that woman.

Annoyed, he shot a glare at his subordinate before instinctively turning to Felicia, half expecting her to overthink or misunderstand.

However, he was very wrong.

Felicia, completely unbothered, simply put away the small container and casually continued searching for more venomous creatures. She asked offhandedly, "You know her? Who is she?"

The subordinate instinctively glanced at Maurice first before carefully answering, "She looks a lot like a former actress… The one who made up some elaborate lies to try and get close to Mr. Glovers. Felicia scoffed, then turned to Maurice with a look that was both amused and mocking. He held her gaze until he shifted uncomfortably and looked away.

Only then did she add sarcastically, "Mr. Glovers, karma really got you, huh?"

Maurice said nothing.

His subordinates wisely kept their heads down, exchanging silent looks. Only Felicia would dare say something like that to Maurice. Anyone else would have already learned firsthand what karma actually felt like.

Felicia continued walking deeper into the valley. It was hard to say whether the area was naturally teeming with venomous creatures or if they were just exceptionally lucky.

When Felicia pushed aside a few leaves, she spotted two venomous creatures wriggling nearby.

Felicia wasted no time. She grabbed Maurice and pulled him under the shade of a large tree, then took out her knife to sterilize it. She instructed, "Take off your shirt."

Maurice obeyed without hesitation.

Felicia didn't even blink before making a precise incision on his arm. Then, carefully, she placed one of the venomous creatures directly onto the wound.

One of Maurice's men hesitantly asked, "That's it? He's cured?"

Felicia finished securing the bandage and nodded. "Yes, it's done."

She double-checked Maurice's pulse. This time, his vitals had finally stabilized.

Feeling as though a heavy weight had been lifted, she looked up at Maurice but noticed he was still wearing a deep scowl.

Why did he still look so unhappy after the issue was solved?

Felicia couldn't understand, but she also didn't care enough to ask. After dusting off her hands, she stood up and turned to leave.

However, before she could take a step, Maurice grabbed her wrist.

"Where are you going? To find Stephan?"

His tone was stiff, but his gaze was unwavering. It was locked onto her face like he refused to let a single expression slip past him.
