Chapter 639
Lydia, Hank and Truman hadn’t expected Jean to say that.
Jean had always been innocent and straightforward, and saying this now was probably just to clear things up.
Hank knew Jean was quite kind–hearted, but saying this in front of Lydia and Truman was a bit awkward.
He was about to cover her mouth when she unexpectedly leaned back on the sofa and fell asleep.
He could only awkwardly chuckle a couple of times.
After a few seconds, he spoke up, “Wait. Judging by your reactions and my extensive experience reading romance novels, you two are so calm. Could it be that you already knew the truth, Lydia?”
Lydia shrugged and nodded.
Hank choked on his saliva. “What? So Jean and Mr. Simpson acted for nothing.”
Truman, standing nearby, also nodded. “Although I’ve been in the entertainment industry for years, I’m usually the one who pays. The one with poor acting skills is me! It has nothing to do with Jean.”
Seeing Jean was already tipsy, Hank didn’t want to leave her like that. “Alright, Lydia, Mr. Simpson! Since everyone knows the truth, I’ll take Jean home first! Lydia, you carry on. You have the keys to Prosperous City, don’t come home too late!”
Lydia nodded. Hearing the word “home,” she smiled more peacefully and comfortably than anyone else.
She got up, helped Hank take Jean out, and then returned to Ebb & Flow.
At this hour, the customer flow had started to increase.
Truman was no longer at the table they had been sitting at earlier. He was helping out at the bar.
Seeing this, Lydia walked over and sat on a high stool in front of the bar.
Truman noticed her, handed the cocktail he was mixing to his employee, and walked over to her with a glass of juice. “It’s late, no more wine. Here’s a glass of juice. Finish it and go home. Claire is probably home alone and needs some company.”
Lydia nodded. “Alright, Claire is knitting sweaters. I’ll go help her when I get back. I’ll leave after finishing this glass of juice!”
Before long, the glass was empty. Lydia got up, preparing to leave.
Before leaving, she thought of something, stopped in her tracks, turned to Truman, who was still busy, and called out, “Mr. Simpson, are you still a bachelor now?”
Her voice was not low. The clear bar was not as noisy as a regular bar, and many people heard it.
Truman heard it too. At this moment, his entire face’s features were scrunched together, looking puzzled and somewhat embarrassed. “Huh? Ah? Well, of course! I’m used to freedom. Marriage and all that, it’s not for me. So you—”
Before he could finish, Lydia happily responded, “Mr. Simpson, I got it! Me too! Bye!”
With that, she left without looking back, her steps light and joyful, unlike when she came in.

The next day, in the meeting hall of Betrico Central Mansions.
Arthur stood in the center of the hall with Brian, Ryan and Mateo, all looking outside, waiting for someone.
Brian, Ryan, and Mateo were brothers. Over the years, except for Mateo, the other two had been undercover with Tristan.
Today was finally a rare occasion after so many years that they were together again.
