Chapter 102
Abigail couldn’t understand Clark’s actions and had messaged him asking for an explanation, but he never replied. “Thanks, guys,” she said.
Abigail decided to wait for updates from the victim’s family before taking action, even though she deeply wanted to hand over the video to the police.
After the dinner party, Sebastian, who had drunk quite a bit, leaned back in the car with his eyes closed, dozing. James and Warren had no loyalty- they’d abandoned her with Sebastian.
Sitting beside Sebastian, Abigail felt nervous, gently picking at her fingernails as she kept her gaze fixed on the window.
“Don’t you want to deal with the Gibson family? They treated you poorly, exploited you, and clearly used you as a mere tool,” Sebastian’s voice suddenly broke the silence in the car.
Abigail involuntarily turned to look at Sebastian sitting on the other side. The car’s interior was dim, with only the occasional streetlight flickering in, making his face appear particularly enigmatic in the alternating light and shadow.
“The only person I care about is my grandfather. I want the Gibson family to leave me alone. To be honest, I don’t have their thick skin,” Abigail said, lowering her eyes to look at her fingers.
In short, even with Halden Group and Sebastian’s protection, she was still an orphan. No matter how terrible the Gibson family was, they were a thousand times better off than her, and they could easily target her.
Moreover, even if she didn’t consider herself, she had to think about Wyatt’s connection to the Gibson family.
She said, “Mr. Robinson, I met someone named Clark Robinson in prison. He taught me a lot. Maybe the apps I developed were recommended to you by
him,
“You must know him, right? He was the most skilled person in prison at the time,” Abigail said, looking at Sebastian as she spoke,
She couldn’t see his expression change, but she felt he seemed less relaxed. She wondered, ‘Does he dislike this person?‘
Sebastian’s tone remained casual, but there was a hint of awkwardness. “I don’t think I know him.”
Abigail nodded, retracted her gaze, and went back to looking at the scenery retreating outside the car window. “If he were involved in the robot project, it would definitely be even more impressive.”
“You think he’s capable?” Sebastian raised his eyelids and slightly tilted his head to look at her profile.
Abigail raised her hand to prop up her chin, stared at the outside scenery for a long while, and then said slowly, “He taught me a lot. I consider him my mentor.”
She continued, “When I was released from prison, I determined that once I found a good job and reintegrated into society, I must meet him.”
“Do you like him?” His tone turned cold and rigid in the darkness.
