Chapter 226
Abigail was deep in her project work when Blanca walked into her room carrying a plate of fruit.
“Abby, I cut some fruit for you.” Bianca set the plate beside her, her voice dripping with
false sweetness.
Abigail immediately switched screens on her laptop. Frowning, she glanced at the sliced cherries and asked coolly, “Why didn’t you knock?”
Bianca had always treated people differently based on what she could get from them. Since she’d gotten used to barging into Abigail’s room without knocking in the past, she still did it now.
“Sorry, I forgot,” Bianca apologized quickly.
“I don’t like cherries. Take them away.” Abigail wasn’t picky about food, but she wanted nothing from Bianca.
Bianca remembered how Abigail used to love cherries more than anything. The Gibson family always bought those expensive imported ones–big, sweet, and bursting with juice. There was no way she actually disliked them now.
Bianca sighed, “Abby, I know Dani’s situation puts you in a difficult position, but if no one helps her, she’s looking at over ten years in prison.
“Ten years would destroy any girl’s life,” she continued, knowing Abigail wouldn’t want to hear it, but she had no one else to turn to.
Abigail found it laughable. ‘They think they can get away with it if Danielle gets in jail? They helped cover up evidence and tried to force me to take the blame. How can they possibly think Daniella will be the only one going to jail?‘
“What does that have to do with me? She’s nothing to me. Why should I speak up for her?” Abigail shot back.
She wasn’t in any hurry to kick Bianca out. She was curious to hear what other ridiculous things she might say.
Bianca froze, unable to argue with Abigail’s logic.
Everything she’d suffered since returning to the Gibson family had been Dániella’s fault. If anyone wanted to see Daniella behind bars, it was her.
“You’re right about that, but she lived with the Gibson family for so many years. She was my daughter for all those years. I can’t bear to see her end up like this. Besides, she’s already been punished recently. Can’t you help me just this once?” Bianca pleaded.
In Bianca’s mind, she was Abigail’s mother. She had raised Daniella too and felt obligated to help her. Yet she never once considered how Abigail felt
about her.
Abigail understood this perfectly well.
Bianca casually spoke those words, as if their blood tie gave her the right to manipulate and guilt–trip Abigail.
Abigail looked at Bianca’s motherly act and laughed coldly. “If you want to play the loving mother, go ahead and do it yourself. Help you? Who do you think you are? I don’t have a mother.”
Her words made Bianca’s face change, anger rising in her chest.
Seeing Bianca getting angry, Abigail sneered, “Don’t act like you’re the victim here. First of all, I grew up in an orphanage. From twelve to eighteen at the Gibson family, all I got was bullied.”
She continued, “You always took Daniella’s side and pushed me to take the fall for her. I can’t remember a single kind thing you did for me. Now when you need something, suddenly you remember you’re my mother?
Bianca had been respected by Stephen and Christian for most of her life. Even when Daniella was being fake, she still showed her respect. Nobody had ever spoken to her with such disrespect!

Abigail stood up, grabbed the bowl of cherries from the table, and threw it at Bianca’s feet.
