Chapter 200 

Mayra returned to her room with her backpack, ready to finish reading the remaining medical books. 

But as soon as she reached upstairs, the landline in the living room began to 

ring. 

Helen rushed to answer it. “Hello? Who’s calling?” 

“Where’s Mayra?” 

Helen responded promptly, “She just had dinner and is studying in her room, Mr. Anderson.” 

“Did she go out today?” Anderson asked. 

“She said she wanted to buy some practice papers from the mall. She came back around 7:00 pm,” Helen replied. 

“Let her take the call,” Anderson demanded. His tone carried a hint of 

intoxication as he held a glass of whiskey. 

“Okay.” 

Just as Mayra was about to head to the bathroom for a shower, there was a 

knock on her door. “Yes, Helen?” 

“It’s a call from Mr. Anderson,” Helen told her. 

Mayra frowned. She didn’t really want to take this call, but after hesitating for a moment, she reluctantly picked up the phone. Helen excused herself and closed the door. 

Mayra took a seat at her desk. “Yes, Andy?” 

“Tell me, where did you go today?” Anderson’s voice was pleasant. 

Thankfully, Anderson wasn’t in front of her, so Mayra couldn’t slip up. ” Nowhere. I just went to the bookstore at the college town to buy some practice papers,” she replied, trying to keep her tone as calm as possible. 

“Is that so?” On the other end of the line, Anderson looked at a photo of a girl kissing her beloved boyfriend. There were several other photos around him.

Yeah. And have you eaten?” Mayra asked. 

Why haven’t you called me for so many days?” Anderson’s voice came through the line 

Mayra lowered her head and said softly, “I’ve been busy studying lately, and I didn’t want to disturb you and Isa.” 

There was a long silence from the other end. 

“Hello? Andy, are you still there?” 

“Yeah, I am.” Anderson listened quietly and attentively to her voice. 

“Andy, it’s getting late. I need to take a shower and do my homework. Can I call you tomorrow?” Mayra suggested. 

Anderson agreed, “Okay.” 

After the call ended, Mayra sighed in relief. 

She put down the phone, took a shower, and put on a camisole nightgown. She let her hair air–dry naturally. 

Studying medicine was indeed a long, tedious, and complex process. What she was learning now was just the tip of the iceberg in alternative medicine.
