"Crash—"

The teacup on the coffee table slid off, and Gordon hit the ground hard.

When Rick walked in, he saw Gordon sprawled on the floor and rushed over, saying, "Sir! You know you have trouble walking; you shouldn't be moving around like that!"

Rick reached out to help Gordon, but Gordon blocked him with a raised hand.

Sweat dotted Gordon's forehead as he took a few labored breaths. Leaning against the coffee table, he managed to get back on his feet.

"I know my legs aren't great, no need to remind me," Gordon said coolly.

"Sir, that's not what I meant," Rick replied, looking concerned.

Gordon glanced down at his legs. It wasn't that he couldn't walk at all; he just couldn't walk normally.

As the head of Aldridge Global, he couldn't let people see him in such a vulnerable state.

So, he chose to stay in a wheelchair, presenting the image of a disabled man.

"Sophie and Colby are getting married. I need you to have someone draft a new list of wedding gifts based on what I mentioned earlier. Also, bring back the rehabilitation equipment."

Gordon's tone was casual, as if he was talking about the weather.

Rick frowned. "Sir, your legs aren't suitable for rehab anymore."

After over ten years in a wheelchair, Gordon's legs couldn't function like a normal person's. Even standing was a struggle, despite his efforts to exercise his leg muscles over the years. Expecting to walk normally in just half a month was unrealistic.

"Having a disabled person at the wedding would bring bad luck," Gordon said bluntly.

"Sir, I disagree," Rick responded.

"Rehab?" Sophie echoed, puzzled. She remembered Gordon could walk, but it was always a struggle.

"It's odd. Gordon's been in that wheelchair for over a decade. Why the sudden interest in rehab?" Jenna wondered aloud.

"Could it be because Elodie came to Devonport? Maybe he’s doing it for her," Jenna speculated.

Sophie thought it over. "Sounds a bit far-fetched, but it kind of makes sense."

"Still, Mr. Gordon might just be talking. The recovery period ended years ago. How can he expect to start rehab now and walk again?"

Sophie nodded. "Yeah, why didn't he go through with rehab during the recovery period?"

"He did," Jenna explained, "but the results were disappointing. His legs were seriously injured. Even if he could walk, it would look strange. The Aldridge family has a reputation to uphold. As the head of the family, Gordon couldn't risk becoming a laughingstock. So, he chose the wheelchair."
