Elsa let out a startled cry the moment the words left her mouth, her body tipping backward.
Behind her was the staircase. Was she willing to go this far just to frame me?
My pupils shrank. I reached out and grabbed her wrist without hesitation.
She hadn't expected me to react so quickly. A flicker of panic flashed across her face, and she instinctively tried to shake me off. However, my grip was too firm for her to break free.
Before she could process what was happening, I shouted, "Someone, help! Hurry! Elsa lost her footing! Quick, help her!"
Truthfully, I could have pulled her back with just a little effort, but where was the fun in that?
Hearing my call, the people sitting on the couch immediately rushed over.
Elsa's expression tensed, and she was getting anxious. If she came out of this unscathed, all her efforts just now would have been for nothing.
She shot a quick glance at Jack, who was already on his way. She gritted her teeth and leaned back even harder, fully committing to the act. Upon seeing this, I curled my lips into a faint smirk for her to see. And then, just as she wished, I let go.
Elsa tumbled down the stairs like a ragdoll. Even though Jack moved fast, he wasn't quick enough to catch her. By the time he reached her, she had already passed out.
She had thrown herself down with such force that if I hadn't subtly nudged her sideways at the last second, she probably would've cracked her head open.
A lesson was necessary, but an actual fatality wasn't my style.
Jack cradled her in his arms, his gaze burning with accusation. "Why didn't you hold on tighter? We were almost there! Why did you let go?"
Eric stepped in front of me, his voice cold. "Couldn't you see that Jae was barely holding up too? How much longer did you expect her to endure?"
I praised Eric in my heart before turning to Jack, unable to resist reminding him, "Shouldn't you be taking her to the hospital? If you wait any longer, she might just wake up."
