Eric leaned in and murmured near my ear, "That woman over there is Rosalind. Her real name is Liliana Bellamy. The man in the bed is her father, George. He's been battling leukemia for a year now. Her mother passed away a long time ago, so she's the only one supporting the family. She juggles multiple jobs just to scrape together enough for his medical bills."

I took in Liliana's frail figure, and a pang of sympathy made my chest tighten. "She must've entered the design competition for the prize money."
