Chapter 48 Just a Sideplece

Jeremiah shouted, “Jane! What are you doing?! I used to think nothing was going on between you two, but now, I see you’ve been sneaking around behind my back. Do you have no shame?”

Frowning, I turned to meet Jeremiah’s turious gaze. Standing next to him was Elsa, looking shocked and wide–eyed.

“Jane, if nothing is going on between you and Mr. Flust, why are you acting so intimate? Don’t you know how much Jeremiah cares about you? How could you hurt him like this?”

Her voice was soft, and her words were delicate, painting a picture of Jeremiah’s heartbreak and pain. But looking at the two of them, they seemed perfectly fine to me.

Besides, Jeremiah’s sudden shift in attitude toward me was obviously because of the business deal. There was no sincerity there just fake concern. It was all for show.

I let out a cold laugh.

“This is my house. Who gave you permission to come in? Showing up uninvited like this is trespassing. I could call the police on you right now.”

Jeremiah was pissed off upon hearing my words.

“Jane, don’t push it! I trusted you, but you’ve completely let me down. Are you still going to tell everyone nothing is going on between you and Eric? Terminating the partnership? That’s just an excuse to go after my family so that I’d feel guilty and take pity on you!”

I had never seen someone so full of themselves. Did Jeremiah think I was still madly in love with him? That everything I did was to get his attention? What a joke.

I couldn’t even be bothered to argue. Just as I pulled out my phone to call the police, Elsa’s delicate voice chimed in again, “Jeremiah, maybe we should leave. If we interrupt whatever Jane and Mr. Flint are up to, who knows what she might do to you in retaliation?”

Oh, for heaven’s sake.
