Perched on a worn–out bench, Faye hesitantly described what had allegedly happened to her, her small voice breaking at times.

Kelly, who had been with Zev the entire time, immediately intervened. “Zev was never alone with her.”

A lawyer–one Kelly instantly recognized as being affiliated with Clarissa–gave her a pointed look. “You’re his wife, which makes you biased and renders your statement unreliable.”

Eric, who had been silent until now, finally spoke, “Kelly, we need to talk.”

Kelly turned away, her voice flat. “There’s nothing to say.”
