Madison let out a wry smile. "What else could we even pretend to be? We can't just sneak into their company and pretend to be employees, right?"

My eyes lit up.

"Actually, that's not a bad idea! But being an employee is too much of a gamble. How about…" I leaned in and whispered something in her ear.

Her eyes went wide. "Are you out of your mind? That's way too risky!"

I shrugged.

"Unless you've got a better idea? Besides, it's not like this is the first time we've taken a risk," I said, giving her a tap on the shoulder with a grin.

Madison let out an exasperated sigh. "Fine, I'll do it your way. Just don't get us killed, okay?"

I flashed her an "okay" sign.

Over the next few days, we got busy again. First, we pulled a few strings to grab two cleaning uniforms, then we quietly dug around to figure out Yvan's schedule.

We caught a break. Yvan was busy with meetings with Murphy lately, running back and forth between their offices every few days.

When the time came, Madison and I threw on our uniforms and strutted into the Jaeger Group building.

"Do you think we're standing out too much, dressing like this?" Madison asked, sounding a bit anxious.

I rolled my eyes. "Are you serious? The fancier the place, the more cleaning staff they've got. And who's even going to notice us? We're just background players."

Suddenly, a guy stepped right in front of us.

"Hey, you two new here?" He gave us a once-over, his tone harsh.

I muttered a curse and quickly looked down. "Y-Yeah, we just got here a few days ago. Nice to meet you."

I pointed to the office, and Madison followed where I was pointing, gasping in surprise. "Oh no, is that the chairman's office at Jaeger Group? Should we really be snooping around like this? What if we get caught?"

I shrugged and scoffed. "So what? Who's going to mess with us? You've got those combat skills, right?"

Just then, Murphy must've sensed something was off. He turned and started scanning the area near the door.

Panicked, I shoved Madison. "H-Hide, quick!"

Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Hey, what are you two doing here?" A deep, commanding voice came from behind me.

A shiver ran down my back as I turned around. A tall guy stood there, his eyes intense as he looked us over, his brow furrowed.

"I'm asking again," he said, his voice firm. "Who are you guys?"
