On the other hand, Nicole's voice was gloomy. A long time passed before she spoke. "He was poisoned by somebody. We're currently searching for the culprit. Fortunately, he's doing fine. The doctor has examined him and confirmed that his life is not in danger."
Zachary responded as though nothing had happened between them in the past. He was just as gentle and considerate as before.
"Okay. I'm glad he's doing fine. It just so happens that I will be returning to the country for a cooperative partnership deal in a few days. You can tell me the exact details when I'm back. I will also visit Hayden while I'm back."
For a moment, she was at a loss for words. She suddenly had no idea how she should respond to him.
Clearing her throat, she tried to speak only for her words to become stuck in her throat. In the end, she only managed to force out a single word. "Okay."
After Zachary finished speaking, he did not add anything else and hung up immediately.
Nicole stared at the phone after the call ended, feeling rather dazed. It was not until a knock sounded from outside the door that she was relieved from her thoughts.
When Colton opened the door, he was greeted by the sight of Nicole sitting on the bed and staring at the phone in a daze. Moreover, her expression seemed full of worry.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" His voice dragged her thoughts back to the present.
Nicole had been in such a daze that she didn't even notice him entering the room. Thus, she quickly composed her expression and shook her head. "It's nothing."
He did not pursue the matter further and simply softly said, "I've finished cooking. Do you want to come downstairs to eat?"
She nodded. Casually stuffing her phone into her pocket, she followed him downstairs.
Downstairs, at the dining table, there were several exquisite dishes on the table. Nicole could barely believe that Colton could work so quickly. Less than an hour had passed since she made her request earlier.
"Did you order these dishes from the restaurant?" she asked suspiciously.
"I made them. Have a taste." Colton picked up a piece of the sauerkraut fish and placed it on her plate.
He lowered his head and glanced at the dishes on the table that were either spicy or sour. To be honest, he had tasted the dishes while making them. He could not say that they tasted particularly good. After all, the taste of these dishes was very strong and extremely sour. The chilis might have added some flavor, but the taste of vinegar was much stronger.
"I ate earlier. Go ahead and eat without me." He quickly came up with a random reason.
She did not suspect his words and simply lowered her head to focus on her food once more.
When she finished eating, she received a phone call from Roger. "Boss, the people from Undercity have arrived within the country."
As soon as Nicole heard the word 'Undercity', she instantly snapped to attention. Her hand subconsciously tightened on her phone, but her voice became calm. "Instruct Roy to follow them carefully but be careful not to expose himself. Once they find the people they are looking for, bring them back to me immediately!"
For some reason, her heart seemed to tremble uncontrollably at the thought that she would finally uncover the person who poisoned and harmed Hayden.
"Okay. Boss, please don't worry about these matters since you're not feeling well today. I will inform that bas... Colton if something happens." Halfway through his speech, Roger forcefully changed his words. It was probably for her sake.
