”What happened?” Hansel gazed at Lingo and asked.

“Logan refuses to eat anything. He’s going on a hunger strike and wants to die.” Lingo thought nothing of it.

Hansel frowned. “How long has it been?”

“Two days.”

Hansel curled his lips. “I have a way.”

“What is it?”

Hansel let out a mysterious smile without revealing further.

It was at night by the time the group was finished with their dinner. They all went out together, except for Lyla. Since the matter had been left in their hands, it was best that she let them be to handle it while she no longer participated.

Logan was still tied to a chair. His hair was not that disheveled but the bruise by his lips was rather apparent.

Even so, that face was attractive all the same. This was owing to the Pattinson genes.

The man could not turn out too bad with those genes.

Piers having microwave food while watching a game. With the door swinging open, in walked Hansel, Gretel, and Lingo.

“Boss, what brings you guys here?”

“I know you’ve been having microwave food so I came by with a little something for you.” Hansel drew close and placed a bag of food on the coffee table in the living room.

Piers was moved to tears. “Boss, you’re the best.”

“Hansel made it. It’s not some junk outside. You can’t buy this even with money.” Gretel added.

Touched beyond words, Piers was just one step from going over there and pulling against Hansel’s clothes to act and cry like a baby.

“Alright, alright. Stop with the pretending. Go grab some plates for the food. Thank goodness I made extra servings.”

Piers nodded at the comment. “Okay.” He turned and sprinted to the kitchen.

As a bachelor, Piers was not fond of cooking at home and had microwave food most of the time.

It did not take him long before he brought several plates over.

Hansel was on one side, putting things in order.

Logan’s eyes followed Lingo the moment she walked in the door. Lingo approached him with a blank look on her face. “I heard that you’re on a hunger strike.”

He was without a word.

“I can help you if your wish is to die.” Lingo kindly blinked her eyes.

Logan, "..."

“Good-for-nothing.” Lingo rolled her eyes at him before turning to leave.

The table had been tidied up. “Boss, you’re really nice to me.”

“Cut the crap. Please help yourself.”

The group began to dig in.

Hansel was actually already full, but he should keep up with the table manners.

“Try the ribs. It is to die for.” Gretel added a serving on Piers’ plate. She was stuffed as well.

As if she had an insatiable appetite, Lingo sat down and continued with her dinner.

“Is there any alcohol? Give me a bottle.”

“I have red wine. It was a gift.”

“What are you waiting for? Crack open the bottle.”

“Coming right up.” Piers got up to fetch the red wine. By the time he came back, he had a few glasses and a bottle of red wine in his hands.

Lingo’s lips curled following the observation. “Not bad. You have good wine there.”

“I don’t really get wine. It was a gift.”

“Your friend has great taste. Piers, it’s time for you to enjoy life. Although you’re a bachelor, you should learn to have some class.”

“I don’t have time for wine. Beers are the way to go.”

Speechless, Lingo rolled her eyes.

“Beer-drinking men are most charming,” Gretel blurted.

“You’re a person of vision.” Piers gave the thumbs up.

The few engaged in cheers and laughter, feast and clamor. Logan was famished from being on an empty stomach for two days. Now that he was watching them eat, the smell was rather... tempting.

He had been gulping down his saliva the whole time he was watching.

His tummy was rumbling louder.

Nevertheless, the four pretended not to notice and continued with their feast in an act of provocation.

Unable to stick it out much longer, Logan finally spoke up, “Hey, what are you guys planning on doing? When are you letting me go?”

Lingo turned to the source of the sound. “Who said we were going to release you?”

For some reason, Lingo’s voice made Logan’’s blood run cold. “Then, are you going to keep holding me captive?”

“I thought you wanted to die? I can feed you to the dogs once you’re dead. What do you mean keep holding you captive?” Lingo indifferently remarked as though it was the simplest equation.

Logan, "..."

Lingo could put the lid on people’s mouths.

“I...”

“What? Don’t tell me that you don’t want to die now and want something to eat?”

Logan, "..."

With her having the last word, Logan would be left with egg on his face if he were to admit that he was hungry.

“What are you really up to? Just get to it.” In Logan’s mind, he believed that they had a motive. Otherwise, they would not have released him that easily and offered him food.

“We just want you to eat.”

“Ha, do you think I’d believe that? I’m not some three-year-old... Uh!” Before Logan could finish, Lingo picked up something and stuffed it. In his mouth. “Shut up. You better eat your food quietly and sit back there if you don’t want to be beaten up. I don’t want to hear another peep from you.”

Logan, "..."

With his mouth stuffed, he gave Lingo a bitter look. Unbothered to take another glance at him, Lingo threw her cutleries. “I’m not eating. I lost my appetite.”

Logan, “...”

From his observation, Hansel could tell that Logan feared Lingo. It was plain to see from his eyes.

He pursed his lips into a smile. “Don’t think of us as the bad guys. We don’t have other intentions. We just want you to have some food.”

Logan turned to Hansel. Sure, he did not sense any ill intentions but there was just an indescribable feeling bugging him.

Hansel stared at him. “I know you really dislike me but likewise, I’m not fond of you either. I wouldn’t want to get involved with you if it were not to save my mommy.”

“What? Are you giving me the heads-up to tell me that it was all unintentional?”

“No, it was deliberate.”

Logan, "..."

Oh, this child.

“I happen to know what went on between you but I’d have you know that I have no intentions to cause harm, whether to you or your mom. However, similarly, I won’t take your bullsh*t sitting down. This time, my daddy ended up in the hospital. Fortunately, he’s okay. Otherwise, it won’t be as simple as kidnapping you.”

“Are you threatening me?”

“Yes.”

Logan was pissed beyond words. Could he be any less of a child?

“You should thank your lucky stars that my daddy and mommy’s lives are not in danger. Otherwise, you won’t be sitting down here having a meal. Your mom would be sending you flowers.”

“You—”

“Don’t get angry. I’m merely stating the truth.” Hansel cut in before Logan could finish.

“Well, don’t lose your cool. It’s not like you can do anything by getting riled up anyway. There’s no chance of you refuting.”

Logan was rendered speechless by Hansel. He simply glared at the boy without a chance to get a word in. Most importantly, he was lost for words.

“As a matter of fact, I’m aware of the treatment you give my daddy, how you go against him, and how you make things difficult for my mommy. Truth be told, I want nothing more than to teach you a lesson but Mommy told me not to waste my time with you. I refuse to admit this but we share the same blood... Oh, please don’t misunderstand. I have no intentions to return to the Pattinson family, not even a bit. Don’t worry about this because I don’t want to sink to the level of your self-righteous family.”

Logan, "..."

He was fuming through the ears by Hansel’s claim.

“Alright now. All this talk is only to let you know that you can’t escape if we really wanted to do something to you, so don’t think too much into it. Let’s eat.”

Logan, "..."

Was this the carrot and stick approach?
