Lily came over when Lyla had just got home.

Upon stepping foot into the house, Lily was welcomed by a big hug.

“D*mn you woman, can’t you even let me know that you’re not dead? I was mourning you for so long. I want to end my friendship with you.” Lily said amid sobs. Although she threatened to break up with her, Lily never released her hold of Lyla.

It was a special feeling to be in the thoughts of others, apart from that of family and lovers.

Lyla’s eyes welled up as she looked back at Lily. “You want to end your friendship with me, but I won’t end it with you. I don’t want to be apart from you.”

“You don’t want to be apart, yet you didn’t tell me you’re back.” Lily put the blame on her.

Lyla had no words. “Alright. Don’t be pissed off. It’s not that I didn't want to tell you, it just was not time. Didn’t you already find out?”

“Lyla Lowe!”

“Fine, fine, fine. It’s my fault, alright?” Lyla immediately owned up to the mistake.

Hansel and Gretel watched on, snickering to themselves as they had never seen Mommy admitting fault.

Lily resentfully shot her a glare before letting her go.

Blame aside, Lily was still worried about her. “Let me take a look. Are you hurt anywhere?”

Lyla grinned. “I’m okay.”

“You’re skin and bones.”

“Really?”

“You’ve gotten thinner.” Lily’s eyes spoke of heartache.

Lyla merely smiled. “Isn’t this great? Many can’t lose the weight even if they wanted to.”

“Are you still in the mood for jokes?”

With a smile, Lyla stared at her and uttered from the bottom of her heart. “Lily, thank you.”

“I have no idea. Anyway, thank you.”

Lily turned to Amanda and Lyla. “So you intentionally hid it from me?”

“Let me make this clear. It was not on purpose, I was only following orders,” Amanda said.

Amanda chuckled. “I’m impressed by my baloney as well.”

Lyla and Lily stared at her and laughed.

“Oh, right. Does Emmy know that you’re okay?” Lily enquired.

Lyla shook her head. “I haven’t told her yet.”

“Sigh, prepare for a scolding then.”

Lyla had mentally prepared herself.

As expected, Emmy put down everything on hand and charged over the moment she found out.

The difference was, she did not blame Lyla and instead, embraced her tightly while wailing. Whatever image she had ceased to exist.

It took Lyla a while to soothe her before calming her down.

Later, Emmy went from tears to laughter.

“Lyla, it’s great that you’re back,” Emmy commented.

“Alright, alright, stop crying.” Lyla helped her wipe her tears.

“Don’t you know I have been in sorrow and crying for so long? My tears have gone to waste.”

Gazing at her, Lyla had the urge to cry. She was moved to tears.

“Okay, I know I was wrong to let you worry. Let me treat you to dinner, okay? Just ride roughshod all over me.”

“Now that’s what I want to hear.”

The group slammed the table and took off.

It was only those four ladies. Not even Hansel and Gretel were invited.

In a restaurant, Amanda, Emmy, and Lily did not hold back on spending Lyla's money.

Lyla would have felt the pain if it were before, but today, she was happy.

The four ate and chatted. They even opened a few bottles of red wine.

Truth be told, with the four together, their good looks, temperaments, and figures attracted a lot of attention.

Mark, on the other hand, was outside looking in and focused on Lyla alone. It was as though he only saw her.

“Lyla, so you don’t intend on resuming your relationship with Mr. Pattinson?” Emmy probed.

Lyla helped herself to the food, not knowing how to reply.

“Yeah. Mr. Pattinson might be engaged to that woman, but wasn’t it made clear that it was a hoax? I saw with my own eyes how he’s been thus far. Lyla, Mr Pattinson loves you. “Lily jumped in to comment.

Digging in, Amanda lifted her head when they gave their input. “I thought he was no good before, but I’ve only seen good recently. Lyla, I think you should reconsider. This is a matter concerning a lifetime after all. Don’t make the wrong move.”

Emmy and Lily nodded in unison.

Nevertheless, Lyla already had her own plans.

“So, you were asked to speak on Mark’s behalf?”

“Is that how you see us? Do you think I’d come persuade you if he threw five million in front of me when Mark’s been bad to you?”

“It’s possible.” Lyla leisurely snapped back. While Emmy was dumbstruck, Lyla added. “And then you would tell me the truth behind it.”

With that, Emmy and her exchanged a laugh.

Amanda gave it a thought before shaking her head.

All the more they found it hard to believe her claims.

The girls narrowed their eyes. “Oh, really? Tell me, who was it?”

Amanda had a weird feeling that somehow there was a blank in her memory.

“There were a lot of people who wooed me back in Meadowston, alright!” Amanda did not sound confident saying that.

Lily and the rest had no doubt about this. Only, this did not mean she went out with anyone.

Lily never failed to shock people with her words.

Lyla was watching on the sidelines. “Enough already. Stop teasing Amanda. What if she goes and finds herself a boyfriend if we push her too far?”

“Even if you do get into one, bring that man to us. Let us wise old folks evaluate him for you.” Lily was a confident lady without the presence of alcohol but would unleash her wicked side once drunk.

“Yes, yes, yes. I’ll have you know that love hurts the heart, body and soul. it’s best to stay away from it.”

Amanda had no words for Emmy and Lily. Lyla approached them without putting a stop to their hooliganism. She let them be as long as they were happy.

It was unknown how far they walked. Emmy, Amanda, and Lily happened to bump into someone while fooling around.

“Hey, what are you doing?” Emmy shouted.

No one would be happy to hear that. “What do you mean I don’t look? You came bumping into me.”

Among the three gangsters, the leader did not seem like one to be messed with.

Just then, Amanda came crashing in. “What are you trying to pull? Don’t do anything stupid.”
