Amanda had just fallen asleep on that side while Mark began to take action over at the other side.

“Quit it and sleep,” Lyla whispered.

There was something raspy about Mark’s voice. “How can I sleep with a beauty in my arms?”

“Stop with the smooth-talking and get some sleep.”

First thing in the morning.

Amanda woke up at around 8 o’clock.

Her earphones were tossed aside somewhere, but she did not notice any weird noises last night.

She must have been in deep sleep to have heard anything.

It must be so.

Subconsciously, Amanda believed that Mark still engaged in a certain activity with Lyla.

She got up and made breakfast.

Half an hour later, she was about to call Mark and Lyla to wake up for breakfast when suddenly Lyla popped out of the room. Stretching out, she appeared worn out.

Amanda let out a wicked smile at the sight of Lyla. “How was it? You must be tired from last night.”

Of course, knowing where Amanda was getting at, Lyla rolled her eyes. “Duh, I’m tired from sleeping, especially with a little one in my belly.”

Amanda continued to laugh. “You get it. That’s not what I meant.”

“Oh? And what do you mean?”

“I had earphones on last night so I didn’t hear anything,” Amanda replied with a grin.

Lyla could not help but laugh. “What did you want to hear?”

“No, no, no, no. I didn’t hear anything nor did I want to hear anything.”

“Why does it feel like your denials are a dead giveaway instead?” Raising a brow, Lyla replied with a question.

“Really?”

“It’s quite clear.”

“Trust me, it isn’t.”

“Okay, I’ll trust you for now.”

The pair let out a smile. “Okay, let’s have breakfast.”

Lyla had just sat down when Amanda blurted, “Mr. Pattinson isn’t up yet?”

“He’d be out in a minute.”

Lyla turned her gaze to Amanda. “Are you a lady? Do you even know what modesty is? Careful, you might not make it to the altar.”

Amanda burst out in giggles. “So what if I can’t get married? I don’t mind at all. Who says all women must tie the knot?” Amanda snapped back.

“Look at you, all smug.”

“Well, that’s the fact. Do you think everyone is as lucky as you to meet a great guy?”

It was a point Lyla could not deny because she felt that she was fortunate to meet a guy like Mark as well.

However, even though she had a man she liked, Lyla agreed with Amanda.

Women did not need to rely on men to live. Women were doing all right before finding a man who loved them back.

“You’re right but we’re born alone. Do you want to be alone for the rest of your life? There are men and women in this world so that they could complement each other and hang on a lifetime together. I hope you can find someone from the bottom of my heart, another half just like Mark and I.”

Amanda could not hold her tongue. “Oh, oh, oh, look at you flaunting your love around.”

“You can take it as that.”

Lyla wanted to continue the conversation when Mark leisurely walked out of the room. “What do you want to know? Ask me and I’ll tell you.”

With Mark making an appearance, Amanda jumped onto her feet and earnestly grinned. “Mr. Pattinson, you’re awake? Breakfast is ready for you.”

Mark was her boss at the end of the day. She had to take into account that she relied on the salary from him to live.

Ridden with a guilty conscience, Amanda swept him a glance without engaging in the topic further. However, she was burdened with a faint sense of loss.

That man sure was annoying!

She definitely would not allow him to cause havoc in her life again.

Having made up her mind, they proceeded to consume the first meal of the day.

Lyla looked at Amanda. Even though she refused to admit it, Lyla could tell that Neil’s presence had an impact on Amanda. At least, she was not without any feelings toward Neil.

She hoped Neil would be fruitful from his trip to unravel the mystery behind Amanda.

Mark soon finished his plate and gave it to Lyla. “Wifey, I want more.”

Lyla lifted her lips into a smile. “Sure.”

Seeing that, Amanda quickly got up. “Let me. Lyla is preg...”

With Lyla’s words suddenly entering her mind, Amanda immediately shut up before ending her sentence.

“What?” Mark asked.

Amanda seemed flustered. “Oh, I mean Lyla has been tired the whole night. I’ll do it...”

Lyla took the plate with a smile and left.

Amanda mumbled to herself in disgruntlement. “You have no idea what you’re talking about.”
