Travis

I watched Tillie almost run to the bathroom. I wanted to jump over the bar and chase her, follow her into the bathroom, and click the lock behind me so that we were alone. Shove her against the door and see just how sweet she tasted.

My mouth watered at the thought and my beast was beneath my skin, urging me on. It would be so easy to follow her.

“Stop, you’ll scare my mate away.” Ryan growled at me.

“Funny, I was thinking about following my mate.” í tilted my head to look at him, letting my wolf come to the surface. I wasn’t used to being challenged by anyone in our pack. I was our alpha’s beta. His second in command. My vision grew sharper and I knew that my eyes had gone black. I could feel the sharp points of my teeth around my tongue. It was hard to control myself when all I could think about was going in there and claiming what was mina

“Tillie can’t be your mate.” Ryan said and I looked over at him.

“She is. I knew it when I locked eyes with her. Her touch feels… Fuck, it feels fucking amazing.” I said, looking down at the bar top, thinking about how soft her skin had felt when I had brushed my fingers against hers. I wanted to see if the rest of her skin was just as soft. To see how her lips would feel pressed against mine, that sweet candy like scent of hers filling my senses, making me feel high.

I had a feeling that Tillie was about to become my newest addiction and I couldn’t wait to make her fall for me just as hard. A part of me wanted to drag her up to my office, but I knew that I couldn’t. She wasn’t ready for that, I didn’t even know if she knew about shifters. Sure, she had come reeking of one but that didn’t mean anything. She wasn’t claimed

“She does.” Ryan said, pulling me out of my thoughts about my mate. “But she’s human.”

“Think she knows about us?” I asked, dragging my hand through my hair to tug at the ends.

“No, I thought she might because her best friend is a wolf.” Ryan lifted his beer and took a long pull from the bottle before he sat it down on to the polished bar top. “When I told her she was my mate, she didn’t understand what I was talking about.”

“Damn,” I said, biting my lower lip. That meant I was going to need to take things slower with her. Fuck, that wasn’t going to be easy. I was never very good at taking things slow.

I studied him. We weren’t exactly friends, but I knew him well enough for being part of my pack. He smelled like home, like woods and family. I couldn’t take his mate from him, no matter how much everything in me was screaming at me to do so. I wanted to start the hunt now so that I could claim my prize.

“We could share.” I said, trying not to worry about how my wolf would feel about sharing a mate. It wasn’t unheard of, at least, not with a human. Other preternatural creatures often took on more than one mate for the sake of the pack.

“Then we’ll go after her together.” I said, holding out my hand to Ryan. His blue eyes moved to my hand before he

shook it and I could feel a strange tingling move along my skin. His touch felt strangeyet familiar and I had a feeling this was something that the moon goddess had always fated for us. It wasn’t the first time that Ryan and I had gone after the same girl and the thought of sharing Tillie with him should have set me on edge.

If anything, the thought of watching him fuck my mate made me half hard. Voyeurism was something that I liked. It didn’t matter if I was the one being watched or doing the watching. I could only imagine how fucking sexy Tillie would look riding Ryan’s cock, her hair falling in loose curls down her back. Maybe he’d let me tie him down so that our mate could take her time learning everything that would make him squirm and pant.

Lightning shot up my spine and my jeans grew tighter. I sucked in a breath, I hadn’t expected that thought to turn me on. Ryan let go of my hand, he lifted a dark eyebrow at me before his eyes moved down the length of my body. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah,” I said, blowing out a breath and turning to the back shelves of the bar to grab the whiskey. Tonight couldn’t end soon enough. I grabbed a tumbler, pouring two fingers of the amber liquid into the glass before tucking the bottle back into place. I tossed the drink back, letting it burn my throat. “Everything is good.”
