Chapter 11
Nancy, ignoring the pain, scrambled to her feet and tried to pull Lucas off Jacky.
But Lucas, his eyes red with fury, was lost in his rage. With a fierce shove, he sent Nancy crashing into the corner of the room.
Jacky's screams of agony slowly faded as Lucas's punches rained down on him, until the man lay there, limp and unresponsive.
Nancy, now desperate, lunged at me like a madwoman.
"This is all your fault, you bitch! You ruined everything! Now Ciara can't get her heart transplant!"
I just laughed coldly.
My men grabbed her, pinning her to the ground.
I knelt down beside her, gently tapping her face with my phone.
"Blaming me, huh? You're the one who seduced Lucas and tried to kill me and my son. You wanted to steal Cody's heart for your daughter."
"Let me tell you something. People like you and Lucas deserve each other. You two snakes belong together, locked up forever."
I stood up, looking down at Nancy as she cried in anguish.
"I'm actually grateful for one thing, though. You helped me see Lucas's true nature."
"Now, the two of you can enjoy the rest of your miserable lives together."
With that, I turned and walked out of the room, leaving her screaming and cursing in a mix of fury and heartbreak.
This city may be small, but the scandal wasn't.
By the next morning, the explosive story of Jacky and Nancy had spread everywhere.
Jacky, unable to handle the humiliation, had checked into his own hospital for "injuries," claiming he had fallen.
But the nurses knew better and couldn't help but gossip.
"How does someone 'fall' and end up with their whole face covered in handprints?" they giggled behind their masks.
Nancy, meanwhile, couldn't face returning to work. She clung to Lucas, begging for him to stay with her.
"I didn't have a choice! Jacky forced me into it! He's my superior.
I couldn't say no!"
Listening to their conversation from outside their door, I smiled to myself.
It still wasn't enough. Lucas needed one final blow.
Luckily, I was more than prepared for it.
An hour later, I waited by Lucas's car in the parking lot.
Lucas, visibly less angry now, walked out with Nancy trailing behind him.
When they saw me, Nancy's face turned red with both shame and anger.
"You've already gotten what you wanted! What else could you possibly want now?" she snapped.
"Fine, hate me all you want. But what about Cody? He's your own son. You were willing to sacrifice him for another woman's child."
Lucas opened his mouth to say something, but Nancy tugged at his arm nervously.
"Lucas, let's just go. Don't waste your breath on her."
She was trying to push him toward the car, casting a warning glance at me.
But Lucas, ignoring her, glanced down at the envelope I handed him.
Inside were two DNA reports.
I stepped into the car Ryan had sent for me, watching Lucas's face from the window.
"Go ahead, Lucas. Open it. I'll wait."
Despite Nancy's attempts to stop him, Lucas tore open the reports.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he read the contents.
The first report was a paternity test between him and Ciara.
The second was a paternity test between Ciara and Jacky.
Lucas's face contorted into a mask of pure rage as the truth sank in.
Ciara wasn't his daughter. She was Jacky's.
