"What do you think of this?" Bryce asked Max who was busily flipping through the papers on his desk as if his life depended on it. He had noticed that his best friend has been incredibly busy these past few weeks with work and business travels that he couldn't help but pity him. Regardless of his whore side, Max had always been a hard worker and takes his job seriously. "Do you think that Hera will like it?"

Max looked at him wearily but his face is quickly replaced with shock, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets when he saw what Bryce was trying to show him. It was a goddamn engagement ring in a beautiful jewelry box. Max couldn't believe it. "Y-You want to propose to Hera? You want to get married?"

Bryce smiled cheerfully when he noticed that he had gotten Max's full attention. "Yeah. I've spoken to the sisters at the convent and I've made my intentions known to them. They gave me their blessings too."

"This is a huge step Bryce, even for you." Max reminded him, standing up from his chair. "I know how unsettling this topic of marriage and commitment has always been for you so are you really sure that you want to do this?"

"Yes." He answered proudly. His features glowing positively. "Hera makes me a better person and i want to spend the rest of my life with her. It's crazy, i know but i don't see myself existing without her anymore."

"The whole incident that happened recently opened my eyes to see the bigger picture. I was so scared to loose her Max and I decided then and there that I'll do anything to keep this woman by my side for as long as i can. Forever if possible."

"She makes me happy Max and now that we're having a baby together, i want to take this step forward with her." He added with a huge smile on his face. "I want to experience all the joy and happiness that comes with being a husband and a father and i really hope that you'll support me in this."

"Of course!" Max mused in pride. "I'll support you for as long as i live. You're my best man and I'm happy that you've found a woman like Hera. She suits you."

"So when do you plan on proposing?"

"I spoke to the sisters at the convent and Hera's birthday is coming up soon in a couple of weeks so I'll do it then." He announced. "What's better than a double surprise right?"

"If you put it that way." Max mused. "But for what is worth, i know that Hera will like it regardless of what you do. That woman is as much as in love with you as you are with her."

"I hope so." Bryce lets out a deep breath. "She has been feeling down a lot lately and i know that it's not just because of the pregnancy or the hormones flying around." He started. "She feels guilty for not defining our relationship before all of this happened and i want to reassure her that everything will be okay. I know that she loves me and our baby very much but i also know that she doesn't want to stray far away from her roots."

"She believes in marriage before starting a family as a couple and i want her to have all of that. She deserves to have everything that she has ever wished for and I'd do anything to make it happen." He deadpanned.

Max shook his head admiringly. "Who would've thought that my friend would be so matured one day. Just look at you. You've come so far. You sound like a dad."

Bryce put back the little box into his pockets carefully. "Thank you. I can't wait for you to experience all of this too. You're one person that I'm rooting for."
