Trevor said nonchalantly as he picked up an apple from the bedside table and peeled it carefully.

Jessica did not say anything further. She was well aware of Trevor's personality.

As long as he had his mind made up, it was difficult to refute his words.

"You're not heading to the office today?"

"No. There's nothing much to do at the office, anyway. I can work at home," Trevor replied gently. Before he finished peeling the apple, Monica rushed into the room hurriedly.

"Mr. Gulliford, Old Mr. Gulliford is here. You should come out right now."

Trevor frowned slightly upon hearing Monica's words.

Throughout the three years, besides Trevor occasionally visiting the old Gulliford residence, Maximilian had never stepped foot in Trevor's house. It was surprising to know that Maximilian came to his place unannounced.

"Okay."

In spite of this, Trevor continued to peel the apple, picking up the pace silently.

As soon as he finished peeling the apple, Trevor placed it in Jessica's hands before turning around to leave.

Maximilian had been waiting in the house for quite a long time. He sat on the sofa, watching Trevor emerge from the room with a grim expression.

"What brings you here?" Trevor asked as he sat on the sofa. Ever since Jessica told him the truth about some matters before she died last time, there was always an emotional hurdle within him that he couldn't overcome when facing his grandfather.

"What brings me here? How long has it been already? Why aren't you married yet? Leah's finally back here. That girl is such a good person, and yet you're giving her the cold shoulder. Trevor, are you trying to piss me off?"

Maximilian's eyes were filled with rage. He had been waiting for Trevor to get married for so many years.

Despite having a child, his grandson was still

unmarried.

"Since you only wanted to have a grandchild, isn't Bennett enough for you?"

Trevor spoke nonchalantly as he poured a cup of coffee and handed it to Maximilian.

"It's not a matter of having grandchildren right now. Are you not going to get married before I die? Take a look at how old I am right now. How old are you as well? You're over the age of thirty! What are you waiting for?"

Maximilian frowned angrily as he pushed the coffee cup away from him.

"So you want me to marry Leah, Grandpa?"

Trevor tried to block Maximilian's way but was hit by the latter's walking stick.

He was keen to learn what tricks this woman had up her sleeve, given her ability to mesmerize a privileged family like theirs.

Maximilian pushed the door open. Jessica, who was inside the room, was scrolling through her phone when she lifted her head and met with Maximilian's hostile gaze.

"So it's her?"

He raised his walking stick and pointed it toward Jessica, his eyes filled with disdain.

"I can't see anything particular that stands out from this woman!" he scoffed inwardly.

"Yes."

Trevor nodded calmly as he strode into the room and shielded Jessica from Maximilian.

"Why are you so protective of her? Do you think I'll eat her up?"

Maximilian felt quite displeased as he scrutinized Trevor with his eyes.
