Cedric was standing there, his scalp tingling with nerves. 

“Spill it, what did you do?” 

Cedric felt like bursting into tears and confessed honestly. “Mr. Dashiell, I swear I didn’t do much, just 

when I went to inform Mrs. Dashiell, I wanted her to feel sorry for you, so I might’ve exaggerated a bit, and showed her the video of the accident, that’s all, really.” 

Remington’s eyes gradually frosted over with anger, he knew Cedric must have done something to scare Lizetta like that. 

She was practically fainting when he caught her outside the ICU just now.

Remington laughed dryly, “Are you fishing for compliments?” 

Cedric chuckled sheepishly, “Not at all, not at all, I’d be content just to be back by your side, at your beck 

and call. 

Seeing him still trying to be cute, Remington let out a snort of laughter. 

“My wife is pregnant, and the last thing a pregnant woman needs is a scare. Luckily, nothing happened, otherwise, if it affected me becoming a dad, I’d take you to be buried at sea!” 

Remington’s words were harsh, but his tone and expression were far from serious. 

He put the emphasis on “becoming a dad,” his voice tinged with restrained pride. 

After a moment of shock, Cedric exclaimed joyfully. 

“Mrs. Dashiell is pregnant? That’s fantastic!” 

“Why are you so over the moon about my wife being pregnant?” Remington’s gaze grew stem. 

Thinking about how his woman, who he couldn’t soothe just now at the ICU door, calmed down after a few words from Cedric, Remington’s eyes narrowed dangerously. 

Cedric felt his boss‘ gaze cutting into him like blades, sending a chill down his neck, and he hurriedly said, “I’m just happy for you, Mr. Dashiell. With Mrs. Dashiell pregnant, she surely won’t leave you.” 

Remington chuckled, “Are you saying my wife is staying by my side only because of the child?”

Cedric remained silent. 

Whether it was because of the child or not, Remington knew in his heart, didn’t he? 

But Cedric didn’t dare say it out loud; he shook his head and said with concern. 

“Mr. Dashiell, Iris has been tailing you for days, and you let her succeed. You’ve invested so much to keep the missus, if she finds out, won’t she be upset.” 

Iris had been following Remington for more than a day or two, and they had long found out she was in the late stages of pancreatic cancer with not long to live. 

But Remington didn’t just fail to increase security; he deliberately gave Iris an opportunity. 

Cedric initially thought Remington was confident enough not to get hurt, but when he heard Remington was stabbed by Iris, he figured it out. 

Remington couldn’t wait for Iris to make a move. Otherwise, how could he get stabbed and coincidentally avoid the vital organs? 

It looked dangerous, but it was actually a minor injury; Remington played the martyr perfectly. 

This wasn’t just being a lovesick fool for love, this was going completely insane for it. 

Cedric felt downright inadequate by comparison
