Lizetta carefully lifted Rem's arm from around her waist and turned over.

She had stayed up waiting for him to come home last night, leaving the curtains open so she could see the driveway light up the moment he arrived.

But at some point, she had drifted off to sleep.

Now the bedroom was filled with the bright light of morning, and Lizetta lay there in the warm winter sun, quietly watching the man beside her.

His face was strikingly handsome; every feature of him perfectly aligned with her ideal of beauty.

Or perhaps, her idea of beauty had been shaped by him.

Before she even knew what handsome meant, she had regarded Rem as the most handsome man in the world.

That's why, no matter how many years had passed, every time she saw his face, her heart still skipped a beat.

He must have stayed at the hospital all of yesterday, because even in his sleep, there was a hint of weariness on his brow.

Without thinking, Lizetta reached out and gently smoothed his furrowed brow.

Her touch was light, but Rem suddenly opened his eyes.

Those deep eyes of his, sharp and clear even just after waking, looked into hers like whirlpools.

Lizetta felt her heart jump, and she curled her fingers back.

"Did I wake you?"

Rem caught her retreating hand, squeezed her fingertips gently, and brought them to his lips for a soft kiss.

Then, with a voice husky from sleep, he greeted her.

"Good morning, honey."

Lizetta hadn't expected him to call her "honey" so casually. Despite being married for so long, this was the first time he had greeted her like that in the morning, in bed.

With her heartbeat quickening, and her cheeks warming, she felt a bit shy.

She thought he might pretend the incident hadn't happened, as it wasn't exactly a happy topic.

Her eyelashes fluttered. "Yeah, I saw you left your phone in the car. I was worried you'd miss an important call, so I brought it up to you and just happened to hear."

"Are you upset?" Rem asked again.

Lizetta shook her head. "No, if I were upset, I wouldn't have come back. I understand the situation; I know you had no choice."

And she wouldn't have kept thinking about him, waiting for him.

Rem's gaze narrowed, fixating on her.

"So why were you in such a hurry to hang up yesterday? Don't tell me you were just rushing to get in the car; I don't buy it."

Feeling cornered by his questioning, Lizetta felt helpless. She hugged Rem tighter, burying her face in his chest; her voice was muffled as she spoke.

"Logically, I understand. But emotionally, what woman wouldn't feel uncomfortable hearing her husband agree to marry another woman? Don't I have the right to be upset?"
