Lizetta didn't know what Remington was about to say, but she was already on high alert for his antics. He had been so insistent on getting her into his car, and it left her feeling uneasy. She immediately cut him off, “No!”

Remington chuckled softly and glanced at her. “No? Does riding in my car make you nervous? I was just going to ask if you wanted me to play some music.”

Lizetta realized she might have overreacted a bit; a flush of annoyance and embarrassment colored her cheeks as she nodded. “Sure.” She figured some music might actually make the car ride better.

Remington reached out, turning on the car's stereo, and when the soothing piano notes filled the air, Lizetta froze. It was the song she had composed specifically for Remington, played by him. She hadn't heard this piece in such a long time. Evelina had performed it at a violin recital once, and afterward, Lizetta had licensed the copyright out. Other songs were available online, and she could stumble upon them now and then, but this particular piece seemed to have vanished overnight.

Hearing it now, Lizetta realized how unfamiliar yet familiar it was, having not heard this melody in so long. “This song…” Lizetta had her suspicions and furrowed her brow at Remington.

Knowing what she was thinking, Remington didn't hide it. “Wasn't it made for me? Then it belongs to me.”

With that, Lizetta understood; he had bought the copyright to the song. As Remington turned to look at her, Lizetta quickly closed her eyes. “I’m tired, wake me when we get there.”

Watching her eyelashes tremble slightly, Remington curved his lips into a slight smile and raised the temperature in the car. Lizetta had feigned sleep to avoid confronting Remington, but unexpectedly, she genuinely fell asleep.

“I never said I wouldn’t kiss you if you stopped pretending to sleep, did I?”

Lizetta was fuming. Remington let go of her hand, ruffling her hair. “Consider it a goodnight kiss. See you tomorrow.”

Lizetta glared at Remington, wiping her mouth. “That’s not a goodnight kiss, it’s like being bitten by a dog!” She opened the car door, stepping out, and with a loud slam, she closed the door behind her.
