Chapter 564
Chapter 564
Gavin had called his assistant, Wesley Carter.
“I have a sister!” Gavin cut Wesley off, his voice practically buzzing with excitement.
Wesley was taken aback by this sudden announcement, but he said, “Mr. Yates, I know you have a sister…”
“Not my cousin, but my actual, biological sister from the same parents,” Gavin explained.
Wesley was stunned. “Wait, Mr. Yates. Did your mother give birth to a girl tonight?”
Jacqueline was stunning and impressively well–kept for her age, but she definitely wasn’t young anymore. Gavin himself was already 25 years old, after
all.

Hence, having a baby at her age just seemed wild to Wesley.
Gavin’s expression turned solemn. “Not tonight, but 18 years ago. My sister’s already 18. She’s beautiful and absolutely adorable. I seriously love her to
bits.”
Wesley was stunned. He had no clue where Gavin’s “18–year–old sister” had come from, but it was the first time he’d ever heard Gavin this worked up, rambling for adjectives to describe someone.
Gavin was usually a guy who kept his cool, so he was clearly over the moon today.
Wesley said, “Congratulations, Mr. Yates.”
Gavin replied, “Congrats to you too.”
Confused, Wesley asked, “What do you mean, Mr. Yates?”
Gavin said, “Inform everyone they’re getting triple pay this month.”
Wesley cheered, “Thank you, Mr. Yates. And thank your sister for us too.”
Gavin hung up and started calling everyone else, repeating the same message, “I have a sister now, like an actual sister that my mom gave birth to.
“My sister is the cutest and prettiest girl in the whole world.”
He went through every single number in his contacts until he got to his dad.
“I have a sister,” Gavin said, practically bursting with excitement.
Levi replied, “Does your sister even want to talk to you?”
Gavin was stunned. When he snapped back to his senses, he hung up and called another number.
Still, the calls brought in a flood of congratulations. No one understood where this sister suddenly came from, but that didn’t matter. Sending a congratulatory message would always be the right move.
After all the calls, Gavin looked up at the sky and shouted, “I have a sister!”
Right now,
even
if
a dog walked by, Gavin would grab it just to tell it he had a sister. That night, he was too excited to sleep.
Back at home, Cameron had settled into the guest room closest to her parents.
Jacqueline gently held her hand. “Sweetheart, I only bought boys‘ clothes for you before. Tomorrow, we’ll go shopping together and get you some cute outfits, okay?”

Cameron shook her head. “It’s fine, Mom. I’ve been wearing boys‘ clothes for years, and I’m used to it.”
What Cameron really meant was that she wouldn’t need things like razors and men’s skincare anymore.
Levi chuckled and doted on her. “You’re a girl, sweetheart. We’ll take you shopping tomorrow ourselves, or we can just have the latest styles delivered right to the house.”
Cameron smiled at them. “Alright, let’s go together tomorrow.”
She’d barely worn any girls‘ clothes before, but her parents treated her so kindly and sincerely that she couldn’t bear to keep rejecting them.
Jacqueline stroked her short hair gently. “You’re such a sweet girl, Cam.”
No wonder Jacqueline had always thought Cameron was so sweet and well–behaved, which were rare traits in boys. It turned out she was a girl all along.
Levi looked at Cameron with pride, beaming, “You’re even more beautiful than your two brothers.”
The sight of Cameron just made Levi proud.
Cameron grinned. “Well, I guess I got lucky with your genes.”
That got both her parents laughing. Hearing that kind of compliment from their daughter made them happier than words could describe.
Jacqueline took Cameron by the hand and gave her a full tour of the room, even showing her how to turn off the lights.
Cameron listened patiently, even though she really didn’t need instructions for these little things.
It was already late, but Levi and Jacqueline just couldn’t bring themselves to leave. Cameron, on the other hand, needed to rest. Still, they lingered a moment longer before reluctantly standing up.
“Sweetheart, take a shower and get some sleep. What do you want for breakfast tomorrow? I’ll have the chefs make it for you,” Jacqueline said gently.
Cameron replied, “Mom, you really don’t have to go out of your way for me. I’m not picky with food at all.”
Levi smiled dotingly. “Then we’ll just have a bit of everything ready.”
That made Cameron smile. The feeling of being doted on by her parents was good.
Not long ago, she’d been full of doubts and hesitation. But now, it was clear she’d worried too much.
Levi said, “Alright, sweetheart. Get some sleep. It’s getting late.”
Jacqueline, still reluctant to leave, said, “Goodnight, Cam.”
Cameron said, “Goodnight, Mom, Goodnight, Dad.”
With that, her parents headed out and gently closed the door behind them.
Cameron headed to the bathroom, showered, and changed into the pajamas she brought from home. Climbing into bed, she turned off the lights and lay still, staring at the dark ceiling with a smile.
Today felt like a dream. And even if it was, it was a beautiful dream she didn’t want to wake up from.
She was finally feeling the love from her parents, which she had longed for growing up. Cameron rolled over, about to drift off to sleep, when she heard
the doorknob turn.
She immediately turned to face the door. The door cracked open, tetting a sliver of light from the hallway spill in.
“Shhh,” Jacqueline whispered. “Don’t wake Cam up. Keep your voice down.”
