Chapter 101 

Luke Wind almost stumbled, his hand flying to his chest.“(Alice), what are you saying?” 

I’m saying I’m cutting you off. I hate how you always act like you’re doing what’s best for me, dictating my life,” she spat, her voice tight with anger. Alice had never used the words “cutting you off before; she’d only wanted to get away.“I should have said this sooner, so you’d stop acting like my older brother, interfering in everything and pretending it’s all for my own good. It’s sickening!” 

Her eyes were cold, glacial. She hadn’t planned on unleashing this venom as she left the family, but they’d pushed her too far. 

Luke Wind gasped, his voice shaking. “Alice, I never thought you hated me, hated the whole. family, so much!” 

“Yes, now you get it,” she retorted. 

He looked up at her, pleading.“I’ll take that as you being upset. That school nurse, if he had any guts, would’ve taken responsibility and gone to the hospital to apologize himself!” “You’re taking this way too far!” she snapped. 

“So, will you come to the hospital with me now?” 

Alice glared at her brother one last time before hailing a cab. She tried calling Jack, but he didn’t answer. A memory from her past life flickered a similar situation with Garrett, where the other party was pressured by the Garrett family to apologize. Garrett had then humiliated and beaten the guy.

Luke Wind had contacted Jack earlier, but the threats from the Wind family were meaningless to them. Their presence at the hospital was solely to deal with Garrett, primarily Luke Wind taking care of his little brother. 

Jack stood at the hospital entrance. “You go in. I’ll wait for her.” 

“Alright, I’ll make it quick.” 

Gator strode into the hospital, heading straight for Garrett’s high–end private room. Garrett was. lounging in bed, bandages still on, being pampered by Chloe Qin. 

Chloe whispered softly, “Garrett, when Alice and the others come to apologize, give my brother a break, okay? Alice’s still family, after all.” 

Chapter 101 

“I know. As long as Alice shows genuine remorse, I can let it slide. But that broke–ass nurse boyfriend of hers? He’s gonna pay!” Garrett’s voice was louder than he intended, a sharp intake of breath escaping him as the pain in his ribs flared. 

A smug glint appeared in Chloe’s eyes. “Thank you, Garrett. Alice was just manipulated by that nurse, that’s why she ran away to live with him.” 

“How could I ever have been attracted to such a…liberal woman like Alice? You’re so much better, Chloe,” Garrett sighed, despite his own promiscuous lifestyle. He still preferred a “clean” girl. 

“Who’re you calling liberal?” 

Gator’s voice cut through the air, startling both of them. He’d walked in just as Garrett finished badmouthing Alice. Good thing Jack wasn’t with him, or his cousin would’ve been toast. Jack was fiercely protective of Alice now. 

Garrett’s eyes widened in fear upon seeing Gator. He nearly dropped the apple in his hand.“You…

His cousin! Had his actions at the bar finally caught up with him? Was his cousin here to settle the score? 

Chloe looked past Gator, seeing ΠΟ one.“It’s you? Where’s that nurse?” 

Gator’s tone was calm.“I’ll handle this. He doesn’t need to be here.” He didn’t need Jack to take down his bratty cousin. Killing a chicken with a butcher knife? Ridiculous. 

Chloe’s voice dripped with sarcasm.“You? You’re not qualified. That nurse was so arrogant. Where’s the coward hiding now?” 

“Shut up,” Garrett snapped at Chloe. “How dare you speak to him like that?” He wouldn’t dare talle to his cousin like that.

Chloe, deflated, mumbled, “Garrett, why do I have to leave? I’m involved in this too.” She felt disrespected. Men were always like that; they didn’t cherish you once they’d won you over. 

Garrett, exasperated, said, “Just go! Can’t you understand simple instructions?” He didn’t want Chloe to witness his humiliation at his cousin’s hands. He had pride, too. 

Chloe stamped her foot, huffing out of the room. 

Only the two cousins remained. 

Gator pulled up a chair. “You’re quite the player, aren’t you?” 

“I thought I heard your voice at the bar, but I thought I was wrong. Why didn’t you just take off your mask back then, Cuz?” Garrett asked, confused. 

“It doesn’t concern you. This injury is your own fault. Don’t drag anyone else into it. Understand?” Garrett was puzzled. “Cuz, that nurse… is he your friend?” Why else would his cousin bet personally handling this? 

“Yes. So, you know what to do.” 

“But I have a broken rib! You’re not even concerned! Who is this nurse? Why are you mediating this for him?” 

Gator sighed, exasperated. “You’re better off not knowing. Just keep this quiet, and I’ll talk to Mom about your exam scores.”
