Chloe explained her request. “I need you to destroy a surveillance viden. Steal it from the police 

station.” 

“My dearest daughter, did you leave a trace? I can help, but you shorted me last time, and that bun.” 

“Enough. Help me, and you won’t be ghosted again” Chloe was desperate. This mysterious man, who claimed to be her father, was her only hope. Whether he was her father or not, she’d use him. 

No problem. Consider it done. 

Chloe hung up, deleting the call log. She checked on Noah, then called Ethan, her voice choked with tears.“Brother, something terrible happened!” 

“What is it? Don’t cry. Calm down.” 

Noah came to see Alice, and they argued. He fainted. What should I do?” She cried dramatically. 

Ethan’s voice hardened “Call 911 and give me the address.” 

Chloe wiped her tears. Her acting was superb. She looked at Noah with a mocking smile. Once the video was destroyed, no one would believe Noah. Ethan hated Alice and would believe her. She wouldn’t give up. 

Meanwhile, Alice and Jack went to the police station. Alice was in a good mood.“New car? It’s different from the last one.” 

“A friend’s car.” 

“What have you been doing in Washington? Chasing girls?” 

Jack gripped the steering wheel. “Not anymore.” 

“Why not?” Alice was secretly pleased. Her mood was complex. 

Jack coughed.“Need a reason?” 

“Because of the bar? I’m sorry. I know you saved me. Nothing happened between us. I won’t ask you take responsibility.” She lowered her head.“Don’t let me disrupt your life.” They’d been intimate, stopping short of sex. She’d even touched his abs. He looked thin but was surprisingly muscular. 

At a red light, Jack looked at her. Her features were delicate, her eyes cautious. His heart softened. He smiled slightly. “It’s my decision, nothing to do with you.” 

Alice didn’t understand. 

Suddenly, a van swerved towards them. Time seemed to slow, 

Alice screamed, “Jack, watch out!” 

Jack swerved, shielding Alice.

Alice felt a deafening roar, almost thrown from her seat. The seatbelt held her fast. She felt dizzy, nauseous, her ears ringing. She lost consciousness.

She awoke to a blur of red. Someone was taking a laptop from beside her. She tried to stop them. but was too weak. She saw Jack slumped over the steering wheel, blood streaming from his head.“Jack, wake up!” She fainted again. She’d put Jack in danger. 

The accident caused a stir in the Wilson family.

Alice awoke to the smell of antiseptic. She was in the hospital.

move. You’re still on IV.” 

“I need to see him!” 

“Not now.” 

“Why? Is he seriously injured, and you’re hiding it?” 

Luke held her down.“You watch too many dramas! He’s fine, but his family is here. It’s not a good time. The accident might lead to misunderstandings.” The Wilson family had almost turned the hospital upside down searching for the culprit. Luke had separated Alice and Jack to prevent trouble for Alice. 

Alice felt guilty.“I’m responsible for his injury!” 

“It was an accident! But Jack’s family set up a blind date for him. This accident will cause misunderstandings. You shouldn’t meet his family now!” 

Alice gave up on seeing Jack. 

I’ll take you later, after his family leaves.”
