Alice found her brother’s tone amusing. They still thought they controlled her life? 

Alice raised an eyebrow. “Who are you?” 

I’m your brother. You’ve forgotten how I disciplined you?” Caleb’s anger flared at Alice’s defiance. “No wonder the family’s a mess. Look what you’ve done!” Ethan’s firewall issues, Luke’s failed bid, and Luke’s arrest–all connected to Alice. 

Alice chuckled. “None of that involves me.” 

“Don’t deny it! Did you hack Ethan’s company?” 

“My brother’s company was hacked. He begged me to fix it.” 

Caleb’s expression faltered. This was different from Chloe’s story. He’d come straight from the airport, intent 011 confronting Alice, after Chloe told him everything. 

Chloe quickly explained, “Brother, I meant that Sister Alice attacked Brother’s system to force him. She’s amazing now! Brother begged her for help.” 

Caleb looked at Alice, surprised by her competence. But her cold expression angered him.“Brother worked hard to build that company. As a Alice, you should help him, not make him beg you!” 

Chloe added, “She took two million from Brother.” 

Caleb was enraged.“Alice, you have no conscience! Taking that much money from your brother!” 

Alice shrugged.“What else? I’m not a charity.” 

“Alice, how did you become like this?” Caleb grabbed her wrist, furious.“Come with me to the hospital. Apologize to Luke.” 

Alice easily pushed Caleb away, startling him. Her strength had increased significantly 

She wiped her hand with disgust.“Don’t touch me.”

Luke’s in the hospital because of you! You won’t even visit him?” 

“I didn’t make him hurt himself. Stop guilt–tripping me.” She knew Luke’s self–harm was a tactic to force her to compromise. She’d almost fallen for it, until Jack helped her regain her composure. Luke knew exactly how to manipulate her. He always tried to smooth things over with Chloe, leaving Alice to suffer. Even her pre–college struggles were dismissed with a simple apology.

“Really? My friend, Max, loves your acting. Can I get an autograph and a photo?”
