Chloe’s shriek echoed through the hall,

theatrical distress. 

Alice tossed the breast enhancer onto Chloe’s face.“I’m not a man, so keep your fake boobs away from me. Otherwise, next time, I’ll just pop them.” 

Alice knew Chloe well. In her past life, Chloe had gotten breast implants to impress Garrett, transforming into a busty innocent. Men seemed to go for that type, and Garrett had completely smitten.

Ethan sauntered in. He’d heard someone was bullying his sister–in–law, and he was here to see who had the guts. 

Chloe’s face shifted through a rainbow of emotions at Ethan’s arrival. In a sickeningly sweet voice, she said, “Ethan, I was just trying to reason with Alice, to stop her from fighting with the family, and she… she attacked me.” She dramatically clutched her chest, feigning innocence. Ethan scoffed. “You selling something? Why are you dressed like that?” Chloe’s face crumpled. “Ethan, that’s not what happened.” She hadn’t expected Ethan to be- immune to her charms. Damn it. 

Catching sight of Ethan returning, Chloe wailed, “Alice, I was only trying to help. You could have just refused, why did you have to humiliate me like that?” 

“Chloe, what’s wrong?” 

Ethan rushed to her side, draping his jacket over her. He glared at Alice.“Alice, you’ve gone too far. What did Chloe do to deserve this?” 

Alice grabbed a glass of water and splashed it at them both. Chloe ducked behind Ethan, leaving him drenched. 

“Ethan, are you awake now?” 

Alice stared coldly at them. Ethan immediately moved the water cooler next to Alice.“Need more? Here you go.” 

Chloe, seeing Ethan’s unwavering support of Alice, bristled.“Ethan, I know you’re trying to defend Alice, but…”
