Seeing Jack’s dark expression, Alice felt a little satisfied. She turned and walked towards the elevator. Steady footsteps followed; she didn’t need to guess who it was. Alice entered the elevator, noticing Jack behind her. They stood close, a fist’s width between them. The elevator was quiet. Alice saw their reflections in the elevator doors, meeting his dark gaze before quickly looking away. She felt his intense gaze but refused to look up. Jack looked at her helplessly, his gaze lingering on her delicate profile. He hadn’t slept well for days. All he could see were images of her angry face and the words “we’re breaking up. The elevator doors opened. Before Jack could speak, Alice stepped out, without looking back. He chased after her, frustrated.“Wait, I’ll take you back.” 

“No need for that, Mr. Wilson. There are plenty of taxis here.” Alice turned to him, her gaze and tone distant. 

Jack sighed.“I need to talk to you.” 

“I think we’ve said everything we need to say.” Alice turned to leave, but he pulled her back, and she bumped into his chest. She tried to struggle, but his arms were tight. 

Alice said, “Jack.” 

“I’m here.” 

“You’re shameless.” 

Jack didn’t respond. Shameless was fine; it was better than losing his girlfriend A luxury car pulled up, the window rolling down.“Miss Windham.” 

Seeing Mrs. Parker, Alice blushed and pushed Jack away. She pushed him hard, catching him off guard, and he almost fell.
